Not good news. Especially from a Jersey point-of-view. Thoughts with the staff of the airline, as well as businesses and individuals who depend on it. As a club we could be worse off as plenty of our bookings are with Blue Islands and BA - both unaffected - but there are some Flybe bookings for ourselves, and potentially our visitors, and we're already looking at those and would hope to be able to identify alternative options.

Got to feel for Douglas and their commitments to travel to fixtures in North One West. I guess they will have the easyJet flights to Liverpool to fall back on.
I had booked with Flybe to travel with my Club on the 20th but the impact is minimal as an individual. |

Well, that looks (no experience of this) like a great gesture by Blue Island not cashing in on the pain....

Not so sure that I like the reports on the BBC website that ex employees of Flybe who had won tickets to the Chiefs game were turned away at the gate. Talk about kick em when they are down.
I know that Flybe collapsing will probably hurt Exeter a bit, but really???? |

Unfortunately Premiership Rugby is becoming more like football, big business....Big money spinning business where all that matters is the profit they can make....

Exeter Rugby Club would today like to issue the following statement in relations to former employees of Flybe being turned away from Sandy Park ahead of Saturday’s Gallagher Premiership fixture between Exeter Chiefs and Bath Rugby. Like many people within the city and across Devon, Exeter Rugby Club were saddened to hear of the airline’s demise and the subsequent impact it would have, not only on all of its staff, but also the City of Exeter and the region as a whole. Match-day tickets were issued as part of a commercial agreement between the Rugby Club and Flybe. Sadly, Flybe has failed to conclude that commercial agreement, which in turn has led to the cancellation of tickets. The Rugby Club had no idea as to who these tickets were issued to, nor for what reason they would be used. We are now aware that some of these tickets have been used for staff incentives. Detailed information, however, was sent to senior Flybe management informing them of the fact that any future benefits would no longer be in place. It appears this key information was not forwarded onto those staff who had been allocated tickets for this game and that of future games. At a difficult time for all Flybe staff, Exeter Rugby Club would – as a small gesture – like to offer all former staff free entry to the Premiership Rugby Shield encounter between Exeter Braves and Saracens Storm on Monday, April 6. To access a ticket for this fixture, staff are asked to bring along a form of proof of employment on the day of the game. Tony Rowe OBE, Hon LLD |

A small gesture indeed. Has anyone ever went to an A league match?

Bit of PR mistake by Exeter wouldn't have cost them much if anything, that's assuming the tickets didn't include top notch hospitality as well.

I can see how the situation arose, difficult for Chiefs if they don’t know who has the tickets, but instead of making an unfortunate situation into a PR dream, they refused to comment for far too long, then issued a poorly worded statement where they blamed the Flybe executive for not telling staff (errr, I think that they might have had a little more on their minds at the time chaps) and then offer a really crass consolation to those turned away (admittedly they have opened this up to all ex Flybe staff, but it’s a bit like having your England - Wales tickets taken away and free entry to watch the local village side play as a replacement).
I thought that Exeter were different from the rest of the PL.... I was wrong ![]() |

I've been to A League games at The Stoop where the crowd has been over a thousand. I believe these games are very well supported at certain clubs such as Saints and Tigers. With their geographical position I wouldn't be surprised if Exeter get similar crowds but that's only a guess. The issue for me with these tickets is what sort of compensation is it to have to go and watch The Cheats?
