I recall one of the objections made about Old Deer Park, was that the clubhouse, and hence the changing rooms, were not pitch side. Edinburgh, and their guests, change in Murrayfield and walk across the car park. If this is good enough for Wasps while playing European rugby, why would it not be acceptable in the Premiership.

He talks about the current mis matches in premiership . . where there is no jeopardy and contrasts to the growing strength of French rugby where even level 4 will be professional with excellent broadcast deals and strict financial management.
He then contrasts the crowd figures at the Caldy Sale game where promotion was to play for!! Well worth a visit to your local newsagent or an online subscription:-)

So far, that is old news. Did he propose a solution? France has a bigger population than England and a weaker Football Association, meaning more TV money for Rugby. And French communes have more money to support local sport than do English councils. |

Does France have a well supported Rugby League competition?
Both codes in England have very well supported top flights Super League and Premiership. I wonder how it would be if we just had one game called Rugby not two.

The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused.

Two of the Super League clubs are French. Aside from that, it has a semi-pro league, almost entirely in the South. My project to build a time machine is behind schedule. But we can catch up once it is complete.

I have a library card and with it I can get the rugby paper for free, by registering with press reader.
That is with Suffolk library Service.

Can we not just accept that the French have a better handle on the game of Rugby Union in their country than we do in ours?

Because the RFU would have to do the licensing if it were less than 10000 - at that level there is a public body that is responsible for applying H&S criteria. |

The plan, or hope, is that French RL will get a TV and money boost from having 2 teams in Super League. However, one of the teams is rooted to the foot of the table and could well be in danger of relegation after just 1 season. How this will affect TV and monies remains to be seen.

Can anyone shed light on the fact that the "Minimum ground Standards" are NOT publicly available, seems very odd and not particularly helpful if you want promotion.

Unless it's lodged with the Department for Media and Sport (where you could FOI it), it's stuck hidden away by the coven of the old boys' club to ensure no upstarts try anything

I imagine it's a 'fluid' document, by which I mean it's made up as they go along.
