Hello from Cornwall!
We might have the fewest covid cases down here, alas I feel next season will not start until October at the earliest, even the scientists want social distancing until the end of the year, so god knows when we are going to start the season?!!
It must be a nightmare for all the clubs to plan for next season, the players, sponsorship etc?!
Let’s hope we have a season to play for next season!
Stay safe everyone!!

We may well not have rugby for quite a while, it depends on many things - it might be the 'younger' generation are allowed to continue their lives whilst those at risk/elderly can't, it might be are allowed to play but no one can watch (which might mean playing makes little sense), it might be we start late. The reality is we don't know and all we are doing is controlling the controllable s, which from a playing point of view at Hinckley is doing all of our planning for the new season as normal, expecting to start pre-season when we normally would, and if we are told we can't, then we just push back and get ready again. Very little else we can do,

All well at Esher, thanks, OH! Finances under control for now, although a long lockdown could be painful. I hope things are OK down on the coast, way past the town of Crawleeee!

The ramifications for all clubs is serious, with sponsors reviewing their cash situation, loss of membership fees early in the season, and a lack of gate money and bar taking.
With the talk of pubs and restaurants possibly being one of the last sectors to be "opened up", our wonderful contact game is surely going to be banned for a long time yet?
Apologies for being a doom monger...

My thoughts exactly
ps there's a comment on the Lions twitter account welcoming Hinckley to the south side and saying they are looking forward to derby day.

Thanks for that Stato........I see that Hinckley have confirmed their expected move on their website,  There is nothing yet from Lions.  I will be very interested to hear what they have to say.  Their decision to stay South should not be underplayed........it is a significant first, with no other team taking this option before.

What is their reasoning ?  I did speculate earlier in the year, when Tigerb (i think) first mooted the potential that Lions might elect to stay South, that they might consider it better preparation for entry to level 3 ?

Hopefully, the club will explain for us their decision making process (in due course).  Either way it is a brave move and I hope to be watching them again next year.

NCA sent out yesterday the annual request for special circumstances before putting the fixture list together. They had an Exec Meeting this week so we may know more soon.

The delay of the level transfer announcement is becoming quite curious ?  The only variable seemed to be whether Lions decided to stay South or not ?  I would have thought that this issue would have been discussed internally and most likely, would have been decided by them a while ago.
Hinckley are coming South regardless and Bournville are left up in the air ?

I wonder if the delay might be caused by some other uncertainty as to the composition of the leagues ?
There is little doubt that many if not all will be in a precarious situation financially.  All normal sources of income are gone.......close season festivals and ground usage is gone......and perhaps worst of all, sponsors may find themselves unable to contribute.
At the least, it is hard to imagine most clubs being able to afford players salaries......which will please some.

Agree with your assessment of the Level Transfers.

Like you, I wonder if there are other unknown factors which are being considered.

Possibly teams with major financial problems (hopefully not) or NCA planning for a start later than September - hopefully not the case, especially as attendances are not normally 'mass' in most cases.
