So you are saying that they can enter the championship without a penny in the bank and owe over £25m.
Yet a club, who had a sponsor, not the club, that owed the RFU, was given a list of tasks to complete  inside 6 weeks, to stay in a league they were in because the RFU had to cover face for 2 years of missing sponsorship payments.

How come OEs were asked to prove to have £400k in cash in the bank yet Wasps are not asked to show they have a penny, or anywhere to play, in point of fact, Id say that not one National 1 club could prove that at 6 weeks notice!

So they came after OEs on the pretence that " there had been a significant change in the club" when there had not been, just the passing away of the chairman of the main sponsor who never held a seat on any OE committee, but happened to owe the RFU 2 years sponsorship in arrears with another 2 to come!

Joke!!..

Wasps have to pay their rugby debts and show they have funds in place to run for three years, these are the things Worcester won't pay, which is why they are not going to be playing next season unless they start again at the very bottom.
Doesn't matter how much bluster Dayglo and his mates make about the brand being too big to fold, everyone knows, no cash, no rugby, they sure as hell won't get any credit anywhere to even buy some toilet rolls.

Well they need a little more than a wip round and as the RFU asked OEs for a £400k clear balance for one season in Nat 1, be interesting what needs to be in the bank in the Champ for 3 seasons!

No statement from Wasps.
No hope of the Nest being ready before the 2026/7 season - so where were they thinking of playing before that.
The hotel is going to generate £7m a year - frankly, if a new hotel could do that - why lumber it with a rugby stadium - take the money and run.

Who writes these business proposals.

The article suggests that the Henley-in-Arden trading ground could be upgraded for Championship rugby. Doesn’t suggest where a playing squad might come from.

Parking would a problem, not much space. Public transport?
Buses between Birmingham and Stratford - every hour or 1/2 hour?  Railway station on Birmingham to Stratford line, again service inadequate for these purposes and a bit of a walk from the ground.

They have based supporters to a ground from a station before (when they played at Wycombe Wanderers FC)

I note that their new ground will be the Wasps' Nest. Anyone who knows anything about nature will know that wasps build their nests of paper, made by digesting wood and mixing it with their own saliva. So the Wasps' Nest will be made of paper that a few legends have spat on. I'll leave it there!

Wasps nest only last 3 /4 months and are never reused .

Surely they could catch a bus from Ealing. 🤔🤔

You could when they were a proper club and played in Sudbury - showing my age now.

No longer a bus service between Brum and Stratford - the bus now runs from Solihull to Stratford and, as far as I am aware, does not stop outside the Pests site so folks will have to walk from Henley (unless Stagecoach agreed to a match day stop adjacent to the site).  Also the current timetable is pretty poor - every two hours at the weekend, and the last bus on Saturdays from Henley to Solihull at around 4:50pm.  Weekday evening services currently finish around 6:30pm.

Train service is only one train an hour on the Shirley/Whitlocks End branch, and then about a mile walk with the last stretch along a fairly fast piece of A-road.  At least the supporters will be able to enjoy an ice cream cone from the parlour as they make their way to the ground.

I don't think this plan is good enough for The Apprentice, let alone Dragon's Den! That said, it may be good enough for the RFU Council.

So bullish about them coming back he hasn't legally become a director at the new co & his son has signed for Northampton...

They aim to be back in the Premiership by 2025/6.
Not quite sure how this comes to pass.

Talking to some one earlier they mentioned the Kassam Stadium potentially would become available if Oxford United manage to secure an alternative ground.

Food for thought and a lot quicker and cheaper than building from scratch plus the potential to build on the empty space behind one goal.

The reason Oxford are leaving the Kassam is because he wants to knock it down and is evicting them.

No idea what it's all about, but former Wasps owner Derek Richardson is said to be going after the law firm and associated banker involved with their ill-fated Ricoh misadventure, in court.
High Court case number BL-2023-000528
Should be fun.

Richardson v. Dawbarn and another

The owner of professional rugby union team Wasps RFC brought legal proceedings against law firm Kennedys Law and its banking partner Robert Dawbarn in a claim filed on April 6.

Kennedys Law acted as legal adviser to the rugby club from 2012 until it fell into financial trouble in 2022. It entered into administration in October.

Derek Richardson is represented by Standley & Co Solicitors.

The case is Richardson v. Dawbarn and another, case number BL-2023-000528, in the High Court of Justice of England and Wales.

The Brentford Stadium, used by London Irish, seats 17,250 and has no hotel - and cost £71m.
Brentford bought the site in 2012, and played the first game in 2020.

Crystal Palace are due to spend £100m+ on updating Selhurst Park.
