Now the netball is over, Cambridge are back to making announcements.
This time, half backs.

We have retained

Toby Dabell
Kieran Duffin
Steffan James
Lawrence Rayner

and signed Jed Gelderboom, a scrum-half from Heriots Super6 and Scotland U20, who has spent the summer in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Keiran has fully recovered from the ACL injury and surgery that kept him out of the squad last season.

And of course Fraser Strachan who but for a very early season injury would surely have built upon his fine late season form from the previous campaign.

Two great lads and fine players - go well chaps.....

What a great move for Tom. Sounds as though that role was made for him. Good luck and thanks. Welcome Kyle

Ealing officially sign Richard Hardwick, former Wallaby and current Namibia International, effective from his end of the World Cup. He is 29 and plays in the back row.

Is there no end in sight? Perhaps a transfer window would be a good thing!

We had one when we had playoffs.

We should introduce a squad salary cap linked to turnover (factoring in unrealistic sponsorships), as a Championship club can have a bigger budget than a Premiership club!

Ps I see Pirates have added to their squad with 4 more additions.

It's a good idea in theory but as the perpetual cheats have shown in the Premiership it's very easy to cheat. And no one seems very interested in policing it.

One temporary departure from Coventry. Fly-half Patrick Pellegrini, who Coventry recruited from Sevenoaks last season, has been called up as an injury replacement by Tonga to the RWC.

He played for Tonga on a couple of pre-RWC games, but missed the cut.

Congratulations to Patrick, and yet another demonstration of how the Championship can develop players

If you'd seen just how much he's developed since joining Cov, you'd realise that that was absolutely the correct terminology.
