Pirates look to be in for a thrashing. 19-0 after 19 minutes.

Rough justice for Pirates just now - Falcons 3rd try went to TMO and in the absence of clear evidence they stuck with the on-field decision of 'try given.' Then Pirates cross and it goes to TMO and in the absence of clear evidence they overturn the on-field decision of 'try given.'

the referee and TMO favouring the bigger team again.... this ref is miles out his depth, absolutely miles. mind you he hasn't changed the result of this game so far. 26 - 0 Falcons lead.

disagree about Adam Leal. He's a capable ref and has been ok today - my only negative observation is that he seems less comfortable and assertive when dealing with a TMO than Messrs Barnes, Owens, Pearce etc. Which isn't surprising... Pirates cross as I type and convert for 33-7 (67min)

Pirates outgunned physically, but fought back in the second half which was much more of a contest.

Strange as the week before, when we played Ealing, the scrums were pretty evenly matched. If anything Jersey had the better of it. Clearly just weren't up for the trip and Doncaster were. These things happen. |

I guessed not but feel free to read the match reports. As our local blogger Tim Smith wrote today we scored: 'five tries in the last 22 minutes (four in the final 10)' so what seemed like a one-sided game only became so once we became less profligate with attacking ball - a trait that has marred many a first half this season. It wasn't quite the day for expansive rugby in the Midlands. The 52 points we finally scored has to be weighed considerably against the quality of opponent. One or two of the sides in this division would likely have scored in excess of 70 and, love or loathe our hard to please personas, that is the standard we strive for.
