Thanks mate. The RFU should organise and fund a proper research project on this. My instincts tell me the law change will move the problem from the ball carrier to the tackler rather than solve it but instincts are often wrong and a properly funded research project would be the right way forward. This is too important to ignore imo.

That's what I was thinking.

I haven't heard anything on my grapevine that RFU are keeping tabs on the data.

I may be wrong but I think medical teams have to report concussions now. Our head coach raised the point of risk to tacklers while all the initial research was going on but like most things with the RFU it didn’t fit their agenda so wasn’t followed up

If you want to understand the research behind the law change you can find a lengthy paper on the World Rugby site. I’ve read it and understand where the law change has come from.

National League Clubs can join the CRISP programme which monitors all injuries but this season is looking specifically at head injuries.

Early days I know but what most who have ever played the game predicted would happen in the first place

Fairly sure that is why the original trial was abandoned as too many tackler's heads contacting knees etc of ball carrier.
