Interesting thoughts within a BBC article today from a Dr Brian McCloskey, an adviser to the World Health Organisation, where he suggests that lower level sport should be the first to restart.

I suppose the logic being if you go to the lowest level you only get about 20 people and a dog watching so easy for 'the crowd' to self distance |

It’s a click bait article. Steve Grainger has stated that rugby (and judo for that matter) will be the ‘last cabs off the rank’ in terms of playing again. There’s lots of media being taken out of context right now as the controllers of our MSM push to end lockdown to make more money. People need to be realistic and think about the 45,000 plus people who’ve died. I’ll refer anyone back to the thread about coronavirus before it all kicked off and the flippancy some regarded it with. Who in their right mind would be ignoring the facts and wanting to play rugby!

I would respectively suggest the point being made in the article is that until you can play a sport at the lowest level how can it be contemplated or endorsed at the highest level. In other words the risks of C19 need to be non existent.

Top level can be played under a strict testing regime with no spectators - satisfying to contracts. As lower level sport relies on gate money, beer and lunch sales without to coverage, it won't be able to balance the books. |

Having been on the frontline of this virus, I can’t see any rugby being played until we have the vaccine proven and tested. Which players want to put their health in jeopardy and to their fellow players at risk, I wouldn’t. I think the RFU will be absolute bonkers to start rugby again in September, so I am afraid we are here for a long time, which is very sad, but safety is a top priority for everyone. Stay safe everyone. Nick

Alternatively if there were a highly effective anti viral.
The aim is to get the risk from C-19 lost in the noise along with all other diseases you might catch. Lets face it no player worries about catching scarlet fever while playing - mainly because nowadays it can be treated with antibiotics.
