Let's hope that's the case and Ealing don't run away with it. I came away impressed enough with the Blues to feel we will give anyone but Ealing a game this coming season. The Lane-Adamson-Worley combo looked mouth watering, as expected.

Great effort from Blues to pull off 2 of the big names from the Premiership to come and visit us. We have certainly been treated. Another decent payday even with it being free for season ticket holders. Even an A team from Saracens will have some big names in it.

We've played Wasps and will face Gloucester this weekend, so another club working with Premiership sides in the pre-season.

COVENTRY TEAM TO PLAY GLOUCESTER Pre-Season Friendly Butts Park Arena Saturday, September 11th, 2021 Kick off 3:00pm 15 Evan Mitchell*; 14 Rob Stevenson, 13 Rob Knox, 12 Tom Griffiths, 11 James Martin; 10 Tony Fenner, 9 Josh Barton; 1 Toby Trinder, 2 Ethan Caine, 3 Joe Jones, 4 Rhys Thomas*, 5 Nile Dacres, 6 Senitiki Nayalo, 7 Josh Bainbridge, 8 Ryan Burrows (capt) Replacements Suva Ma’asi, Dan Richardson, Phil Boulton, Fred Betteridge*, Tom Ball*, Joe Snow, Will Owen, Andy Forsyth, Jake Bridges*, Ben Meakin*, Kit Smith*, Liam Stone*, Ollie Betteridge*. Elliott Gourlay, Jack Metcalf, Joe Brock* * Denotes senior academy player. Some interesting looking swaps and changes again. All three pre-season teams have been quite different in their make-up, and I don't yhink this starting line-up will be retained gor the first Championship match. Two established players who went off injured last week versus Wasps still missing, and backfilled from the Academy.

I was unable to follow the game this afternoon but I see Bedford just pipped Ampthill 38-35 with a 79th minute penalty. Sounds like another cracking game watched by nearly two thousand spectators.

Coventry 40 - 50 Gloucester FT
Very encouraging game particularly with, at my estimate 5 first chouce players out followings injuries last week for Cov. Some very impressive play by the Gloucester 12-13-14 - good quality stuff there. Very useful game for Cov, particularly as most replacements appeated to be tactical, rather than injury.

Blues won 38 - 35
Scrum wasn’t a problem, but losing both 2nd rows to injury was. In fact we score a penalty try from the scrum but had 4 props and a hooker on at that stage!

Somewhat to my surprise, Ealing has announced an additional friendly fixture against Saracens A (Storm)for 1900 on the 24th of September at the Stone-X. I guess that they want to get game time, and have a bye that weekend.

With such a large squad probably the right thing todo to get players playing, i do like how Saracens have gone about and said regardless of no A League they're getting their players neccesary minutes in a Saracens shirt versus competitive opponents.

Saracens via the Storm could still be part of the Championship… the unofficial 12th team! 2 games lined up for 2 bye weekends.

(Saracens via the Storm could still be part of the Championship… the unofficial 12th team! 2 games lined up for 2 bye weekends) The Champ/Nat 1 teams to whom Ealing and Sarries have d/r/loaned players may not be so happy with the arrangements as you can bet a good number of those players will be needed to fulfil those fixtures

ET's website show's 49 first team players (a few are academy), so their first team is about 44 players without any academy promotions so im sure they have enough players to cover... crazy to think they have another 2-3 on loan in the champ & about 15 in Nat 1. |

The Cheats back in the Premiership is bad enough without having another Cheats team in the Championship.

Just get on and decide how many teams you want, and then promote National 1 sides to fill the slots. Make sure you have enough relegation/promotion slots, so the division does not get stale. Of course, increasing the number of sides travelling nationally goes completely against the RFU aim of reducing travel.
