Would prefer a push to market 10s.
Recall it suggested 10s has the speed of 7s, with a few more pieces of the full game. Some European nations Germany a prime example seem to be doing well at 7s, but not able to get stability at XV. From my limited knowledge of 10s n a TV show some years ago, was to build on skills. During Tokyo 2020 the IOC President was at the 7s. It is a format he thinks is good for the Olympics. However he seems keen to see Rugby in more countries, and maybe in those nations 7s and 10s offer more than the slower pace of 15s. |

The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused.

This isn't a proposal to help the development of the game in anyway it is just a desperate attempt to create a new rugby format that they can take ownership of and flog broadcasting rights to netflix or amazon etc. I would be embarrassed to associate my name with it or Ian Ritchie.

Which is a missed opportunity.
Although that should IMO have been done using 10s. However I understand whilst 10s is only 10min each way. 12s is 15 each way. World Rugby should look at both and try to build on one or the other. Could 12s work as a longer match, 20 or more mins each way? Or the 15 minutes might be effective, when allowing for stoppages, waiting for a dead ball could add 5 minutes each way. Across Europe, could use international teams as per Rugby Europe 7s series, or maybe nations like Germany, Netherlands, Belgium could bring two sides into a tournament?

I watched the Bristol v Harlequins semi last season - difficult to top that in entertainment terms!
In that game the Quins back three exploited the space in the S half BUT also denied Bristol another 2/3 tries in the first. Quick ball and explosive running defeated power and bulk. Cut the subs and slim the players down and the 15 a side game is excellent...
