Ealing 17 (3T) - Chinnor 5 (1T) - HT Chinnor robbed by some very poor calls from sir. Ealing missing out on points due to sloppy play. All in all, not a great advertisement for rugby on a glorious Saturday afternoon.

Long way to go yet, but it just shows the difference getting a few forwards back can make.
And then Cov almost immediately lose a forward to the bin!

HT Ampthill (1 try) 7-29 Blues (5 tries)

Pretty much one way, Blues being dominant and have the edge in the scrum, maul and open play. Ampthill’s try came from a dropped Blues attack.

The Vicar is a larger than life personality that added to the game rather than getting in the way of attractive rugby. The game needs brave and characterful officials that augment the on field entertainment. His young charges like Andy Wigley are lucky to have the Vicar as a mentor. God bless the Salvation Army

Ealing  29 (BP) - Chinnor 5 (1T) - 60' - Willis scored on a, no exaggeration, 5 on 1 break.

Ealing  41 (BP) - Chinnor 5 (1T) FT - Ealing much more clinical in the second half. Several young players given a chance to put their hand up for more time, but most did not impress. Referee was horrible, probably cost Chinnor 14 points. Missed a blatant offsides on an intercept by Craig Hampson.

Thanks gerg_861. Also, and not giving a clear knock-on in the build up Ealing's second try.......and with a penalty advantage to Chinnor, Ealing are given a penalty as Chinnor attempt to cross the line.

With the benefit of watching the replay, the decision against Chinnor for crossing when they tried to run the ball near the end was also baffling.

After an error strewn first half by the knights, quite a bit forced by a strong Coventry pack, the Head Coach kicked the hairdryer at HT and a different team ran out in the 2nd half to score 28 unanswered points to leave the home support ecstatic and the Cov supporters dumbfounded. Pleased to come away with 5 points and deny Coventry any points 👏

Same result for the Pirates at the Mennaye; 5 points for us and nothing for the visitors. The race for third place continues; our final away game at Cow Pie Stadium could be crucial.

If Cambridge has thrown fewer passes that could be obviously intercepted, it might have been closer.
But, we did, and it wasn't.

A great result for Donny today in a game of two halves. First half Coventry edged the breakdown and their defence managed to suffocate the Knights, they were also very clinical when they took their chances. Second half Donny came out with a lot more intensity and started to get the upper hand physically which created gaps. Some of the tries we scored today were excellent - we had a much better balance to our game in the second 40 minutes. Such a shame there isn’t play-offs in this league anymore because it would be a spectacular way to end the season with the top 4/5 teams being so evenly matched - however that’s a discussion for another day.

When we went into this long block of games to end the season, I was wishfully hoping for 10 wins out of 10 but of course not expecting it. Well we’re 7 games down now and the week off before Caldy hasn’t broken the Knights’ momentum. Two massive games coming up for Donny in the next two weeks against 2 quality sides but bring it on I say. At the moment it will take a good team playing well to beat us and as a supporter that’s all you can ask for. If you play well but lose to a better team on the day then you can accept that. In the last few weeks we’ve seen the Donny team that people probably expected at the start of the season.

I shudder to look at Cambridge's points difference this season! But, a TBP against Scottish is an improvement on your normal returns come Saturday evening so every cloud.

I wasn't far off with my 30+ points deficit. But no shame on Chinnor after their first trip to TFSC, especially after a few debatable decisions. Many more established sides have taken a bigger beating there this year.
