The fact that our club secretary at level 4 still has not recieved notification of any of this.If I had not forwared it on from Dickons post.

Yes I have spoken to many of our players ...they just want to play at the best level they can as often as they can.

The fact that one of the member of this ACR was "astounded/shocked at distrust the clubs held in the RFU"is beyond belief and just shows how out of touch they are.

I am really struggling to even bother to fill in the survey I have better things to do than be ignored by people who should know better.

They probably should not have used the Iowa Democrats to produce the web form.

I find it extraordinary that in that massive report there are no paragraphs or headings. It's very difficult to read.

So now the full impact of the RFU's massive financial overspend is writ large for all to see, along with how they intend to tackle it; the Grassroots game will begin at Level 2. Over the past few seasons we have seen prize money removed for all grassroots Cups, travel subsistence halved, and now the Championship funding halved, then reduced to nothing in the near future (and someone justify why Saracens should not be given the same funding as the rest of the Championship clubs next season?). The ACR will save the RFU substantial further funds in reducing travel subsistence further (don't tell me this is to do with Player Welfare otherwise why would the RFU reduce the season by 4 games, then propose Cups and Play Offs to fill up the spare weeks?) If we want something to change, we need to change the folks making these decisions and replace them with folks who know how to grow the game across all elements...

I'm still waiting for someone to morally justify why Saracens are even in the Championship next season after six seasons of non-stop cheating.

You've summed it up well. Among players, and I'm speaking predominantly Nat 2 and Level 5 as that's where I have played most, people feel 30 is probably slightly too many. 26 seems ideal, especially with my advancing age...

I know dozens of players who turn down county representation because of how much it extends the season. I have done so myself for the past few seasons.

The number one thing players want from any re-organisation is for the standard of competition to remain similar. Dilution of competition should be avoided at all costs. All the suggested proposals do this.

If my club enters level 4 again (currently on track to do so) then the proposals for L4 probably suit us as we'd have 3-4 games a year where we were underdogs but have a shot, 3-4 we'd expect to win but not at a canter, and the rest good tight competitive games. If we end up at L5 we would likely only have 2-3 really competitive games a season and the title could effectively come down to 1 or 2 games and whether you can match the other team for try bonus points against the rest.

Keep the standard of competition high!

I completed the survey and wrote something to this effect.

I suspect the powers that be will have read your reply to the survey with interest - especially that you agree with reducing the number of league games as that is what they want.

Unfortunately, I think they will ignore your views that you don't want any reduction in competitiveness from an re-organisation which I believe will happen at level 4 and below.

I notice you don't give an opinion on cup competitions to make up the rest of the season - which as far as I am aware have little or no interest to committee, players or spectators, but which the RFU seem to want to foist upon everyone - despite views against it at level 2.

The exciting thing about the football FA Cup is the prospect of lower division teams upsetting higher division teams. The rugby cups are all about multiple games between clubs in the same league, with a lot of use of players who are not first team regulars. Inevitably no competitive edge and perceived as dull and meaningless.

No real interest, although I wouldn't mind a day out at Twickenham. We get a shot at that with the BB though...

I like our County Cup, and so do most other players in Devon. DRFU getting it right at the moment I think - league games between Devon teams count towards a cup mini-league, then top two play a final. Means only 1 extra game and adds meaning to league games. Helped by having 6 Devon teams at level 5.

Looks like we are going to 12 team leagues at Level 7 and below as well as letting 2nd teams enter the RFU structure from season 21-22 0nwards.

The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.

But are they doing anything to create more leagues to reduce travel.
Are people really only going to play 22 games - or are they adding cup games and potential travel.

We've been playing in 12 team leagues for the last three years at Level 7/8/9

Interesting article in today's Guardian sports section on the future of rugby. Worth a look.

We are all being invited to nominate our 1st team Captain and one other representative to attend a meeting, which are being held around the country to discuss the proposals. I just logged in to book ours and received this:

We have received a high volume of participation in the Adult Male Competition Review. What is really exciting is that there has been a lot of interest from many clubs and players on this topic. Given the high level of feedback, and having listened to various stakeholders, we believe that we need to allow more time for further consultation and deliberation before we make any recommendations. We will provide further information regarding the dates and locations for new consultations soon. This survey will be made live again and updated with this information. We thank you for your continued involvement in this review.

Shambles, at this rate we will be into the 2020/2021 season before we know what is happening the year after.

Latest RFU Covid 19 missive confirms that the RFU have sensibly paused the ACR implementation, so remains to be seen when this will rear its head again, but my guess is no further comms until Autumn at the earliest.

It will be interesting to see whether players decide they do not want to risk close physical contact with players whose C19 status is unknown.

Or whether they are looking for a good excuse to get away from the families that they have been shut in with for weeks.

Yes but they’re still planning to introduce the changes in season 21/22. Just having to defer “consultation”.

I was wondering how the answers to the consulation will will change.
Will those complaining about number of games now welcome the chance to get out.
