If weather conditions (which shall be deemed to include bad light in the sole opinion of the Referee) solely prevent a match being played or result in a match being abandoned then   • if less than sixty minutes have been played, the match will be replayed unless the NCA Secretary exceptionally and in his absolute discretion agrees or specifies otherwise   • when sixty or more minutes have been played, then the score at the moment of abandonment shall stand and be deemed to be the final score in the match

• the Match Referee’s decision as to the necessity for abandonment and the number of minutes played at the moment of abandonment shall be final

If the Referee finds it necessary to abandon a match for any reason other than weather conditions, then, irrespective of the number of minutes played, the following shall apply:    • if it is possible for the match to be reconvened on another pitch at the hosting venue and that pitch is compliant with the applicable World Rugby Regulations and NCA instructions, the match must be reconvened on such pitch unless the Referee deems (in his or her absolute discretion) that such pitches are unsuitable or that it is inappropriate to reconvene the match;
NCA administrative instructions August 2019
~ 15 ~

• if it is not possible to reconvene the match on another pitch, the result of that match shall be reviewed and determined by the NCA Secretary who may order the match to be replayed and/or impose such other sanction as he deems appropriate.

Not sure that floodlight failure comes under bad light
If only Webb-Ellis hadn't given them the ball back!

Wasn't there a power cut that affected the whole area not just the ground.

THERE SEEMS TO BE AN INFERENCE THAT SOMETHING DEVIOUS HAPPENED

The inference that something untoward happened at Sutton on Saturday is nonsense, as kingsheathlad states the whole area was affected by a power cut, not just the floodlights, both teams wanted to play on both chasing extra bonus points, but the referee made the correct decision in the circumstances.

Not sure anyone has suggested that.

These things can happen - even at a higher level - I have tried to take a look at the NCA regs without any success, so I am assuming the result stands as has been suggested despite the fact the result hasn't been entered on the NCA site the table has been updated to reflect it.

Chinese Dave, no inference from me, these things happen. I quoted the regs as the result stands if weather (including bad light) cause the abandonment, otherwise the match is replayed. I would have thought that bad light could be a result of an extended delay due to injury, cloud, fog or a thunder storm etc. but that the sudden loss of light due to floodlight failure would be subject to review by the NCA secretary, particularly in view of the importance of the result to both teams.

Bournemouth's web site states that the result is being reviewed by the organising committee.
