Even rarer event happened in this league in week 3, Wirral and Lymm drew 27-27 and it was 4 tries to 3 and league points came up as 3-2...had me scratching my head a bit !

ROSSENDALE TAKE POINTS IN DESERVED VICTORY.
BY MIKE BROWN 1 HOUR AGO SHARE Share via https://www.billinghamrugby.co COPY #wewillgetstronger Today Billingham welcomed Rossendale to Greenwood Road. Billingham started the brighter of the two sides. Rossendale upon appearance seemed much changed from the earlier seasons game. Billingham took the game upfield with Luke Wilson stepping in at 10 following the imminent arrival of Peter Evans twins. We send our love to both Peter and Anna. Luke moved the ball wide to Jobe Roxby who danced around his opposite number but was tackled on the 22. Multiple infringements from Rossendale saw the ref penalise Rossendale. Questions were raised when the fifth penalty was signalled. Should a yellow been awarded? This may have changed the game? Who knows...... Billingham kicked to corner. 3 phrases saw Foley find Wilson on the crash ball who skipped passed 3 would be tacklers to cross the whitewash. Jobe Roxby kicked the extras with a fine kick. Rossendale came straight back from the kick off. Strong forward play saw Billingham get sucked in, Rossendale exploited the overlap and scored in the corner. The conversion was kicked. 33 minutes gone it was 7 points apiece. Billingham regrouped. The ball seemed to find the backs more with both Gardner and Kirby seeing more of the ball. Great support play from Jackson, McAlorum and Sunley meant the ball was quickly moved out to Husband. Further carries from Spoors allowed Foley to fizz quick ball to Wilson. A cross field kick found an athletic Whinn who skirted with the touchline to score. Conversion was missed. 12-7. Half time. An early substitution had to be made when Youll making his first appearance replaced Gardner. Rossendale came out at half time rejuvenated. A early penalty allowed Rossendale to start the half strongly. This was quickly followed by a quickfire score following poor Billingham defence. Rossendale picked up the momentum which seemed to affect the young Billingham side. Rossendale kicked another penalty before finishing the game when their strong pack barrelled over. FT 12-27 Was this a case of the better side won.... Yes, very much so. Rossendale were the better side and exploited Billinghams defence. There was positives to take; Peter Youll made a strong debut. Conner Foley returning strongly and the fact Billingham were dismayed at the result. Small margins made the difference. The way the ball bounced, a decision here and there and missed one on one tackles. This is a young side with a great desire. They will learn from the defeat. They will regroup. They will right the wrongs and we will always back them We go again next week!!! #OSIOS |
