Excellent top of the table match this afternoon between Hull and Sedgley Tigers, played in glorious sunshine, which was great for the spectators but not so good for the players.
Hull went in at HT 14-0 ahead have scored two excellent tries.
As the 2nd half started Sedge showed why they are in close content for top of the league and score two outstanding tries both under the posts in quick succession and suddenly it was all level at 14-14.
Hull kicked a successful penalty to retake the lead 17-14 and then after a number of scrums close to the visitors line even managed to get the touch down and go 24-14 up.
Sedgley came back and crossed the line in the corner the conversion unfortunately hitting the upright. Despite more pressure from a determined Sedgley side Hull held firm and after about 4 minutes of injury time ran out winners by 24-19.
Sedgley supporters were gracious in defeat and I will get you that promised G & T next time we meet S T, great to meet you and all the best for the rest of the season which is far from over yet.

2 Reds for Dale after the final whistle.  Not surprised.
I will leave it there as one wouldn't have a game without referees.

One can only assume they were for comments made to the referee after the final whistle.
If it was it is uncalled for, irrespective of the referees performance.

Couldn't fathom what the cards were for from my place in the stand, my money is on back-chat or something in the build-up to the last try.

Either way, what was a scrappy game was enjoyable to watch. Both sides left points on the field - especially Wharfedale's kicker, which ultimately cost them the game.

What a game at Brantingham Park. Two teams playing open rugby on a warm sunny afternoon. Hull Ionians got the win but had several more players injured and had to play backs in the forwards towards the end.
League rugby at its best.
I’s welcomed Mold rufc minis on tour which made the day even more special.

Well said FBR,
Brantingham Park was a picture yesterday. Bathed in sunshine and just about full to capacity.
We were pleased to host Mold RUFC Mini Juniors on tour, over 200 kids plus parents, providing curtain raiser rugby prior to the main event and filling the bar's.
Both Hull Ionians and Flyde fielded squads containing players who had come through from their own MJ sections. A credit to both community clubs, both clubs giving something back to the game.
The game was a thriller. We knew there would be over 50pts scored as both clubs want to play expansive open rugby. We were lucky/good enough on the day to come out on top but credit to Fylde who always play the full 80mins.
Already looking forward to meeting Fyde again next season.
