I do not doubt that emails may have been sent by the RFU but there was no clarity until after midday which was the issue

If the funeral is Monday, why do you “hope” that Saturdays games are postponed? Like a another poster on this forum has done, if you really think it is disrespectful to attend to level 2 rugby match 2 days before the queens funeral, then you can choose not to go. But given I think that’s the minority view (demonstrated by the 2100 attendance for the Coventry v Bedford game last night, the poll another poster has set up and also just speaking to friends and family), I don’t think that should be imposed on others who don’t share it.
Personally, I’m yet to hear a compelling argument as to why cancelling sporting fixtures constitutes showing respect. I think there are plenty of other ways this can be done, such as bringing people together (each game is being preceded by a minute’s silence and the national anthem). I actually think the RFU have (eventually) got this one right. Cancelling sporting fixtures seems like an arbitrary gesture, especially given other cultural/leisure activities remain open.

Personally I agree Bluesman11 .......my only issue was with the lack of prompt clarity from the RFU. I don't know why the RFU had to await a meeting with DSMC (or whatever its called) particularly as that appears to have clarified nothing as football took a different view to the RFU
Anyway there is clarity now

I find it interesting that rugby and many of its
supporters are so happy to accept the DCMS guidelines about how to show
respect. The DCMS are part of the very same Government whose leaders whilst
under lockdown last year felt the way to show respect for The Queen on the eve
of her husband’s funeral (where she sat isolated and alone) was to have a
party.
Sometime in life you have to think for yourself
and not rely on being told what you should do particularly when those doing the
telling have little credibility.

Is that the same Government of "little credibility" that got us out of Europe and saved millions with their advanced vaccine programme? But, this is digressing from the point.
You have your opinion on this matter. Please allow others to have theirs and, respect their choice to show their respect today, communally, at Rugby grounds all over the country

Isn’t thinking for yourself exactly what is happening? You have decided not to attend. Some of us have decided to attend. The DCMS guidance hasn’t influenced my decision
