An insight into our neighbours' recent form, historical clashes, players to watch and more!

Year Founded: 1962

Nickname: The Villagers

Ground: Kingsey Road (Capacity 2,000)

Current season: Second (P13 W10 01 L3 TB10 LB2 Pts 52)

Last season: Eighth (P26 W12 D1 L13 TB17 LB4 Pts 71)

Past five games against Rams:

Rams 29-19 (Chinnor, September, 2023)

Rams 50-31 Chinnor (February, 2023)

Chinnor 30-46 RAMS

Chinnor 43-40 RAMS (April, 2022)

RAMS 38-22 Chinnor (March, 2022)

Recent Form: The strongest in the league since Week Five, Chinnor have won eight of their past nine matches including the most recent four.

Last time out they pulled off an exceptional comeback to overturn a 21-5 deficit against Birmingham Moseley, securing a late 24-21 triumph.

Another dominant second-half showing sealed a 40-15 victory at Leicester Lions, while Chinnor flew out of the blocks in a 55-26 demolition of Richmond on the back of a 26-7 success at Bishop’s Stortford.

Their one recent blip was a 22-17 home reverse against fellow high-fliers Plymouth Albion, but prior to that they had been racking up points for fun with victories against Taunton Titans (53-21), Blackheath (53-8), Rosslyn Park (48-21) and Cinderford (48-17).

Beaten 27-21 at Sedgley Park in Round Four, Chinnor previously crushed Sale 36-0, lost 29-19 at Rams and began the season with a 22-10 home triumph against Darlington Mowden Park.

Chinnor are currently the top point-scorers (465) in National One, and also boast the meanest defence (227). Their points difference of +238 is also 136 better than the next best side in Rams!

Players to Watch:

Alun Walker – Averaging a try-per-game with 13 in as many matches, the former Ealing Trailfinders hooker has seven in his past four and 10 in the last seven.

Scored a hat-trick against Moseley last time out and prior to spending a decade at Trailfinders, the Scotland A international was with Nottingham and Edinburgh.

George Worboys – Bath loanee has proved a big hit since joining five games ago, racking up 39 points thanks to two tries, 13 conversions and the match-winning penalty against Birmingham.

Played a key role in helping Taunton Titans survive at the back end of last season.

Kieran Goss – The long-serving South African back three ace is something of a Chinnor legend, having racked up 59 tries in 161 appearances.

An international Academy player, his career worked its way from Western Province to the Eastern Province Kings and then over to England with a spell in the Championship at Cornish Pirates before he ended up at Kingsey Road in November, 2015.

The last couple have been, but I've not found anything on google yet. Should be a great advertisement for the league on paper.

A good preview, thanks for posting. This paragraph below caught my eye, I didn't realise that Chinnor could be placed in thr North camp of any 2 league Nat 1?

Of course, Chinnor themselves may well get promoted to the Champ this season, which I'm sure is what Nick Easter and the array of ex-professional players he has signed have their eye on.

It seems a great shame that this is potentially the last time these two rivals go head to head for a while. If Rams are promoted to the Championship we wish them well and hope to see them in the future. If we both remain in National One under the current RFU plans we will be placed in different l divisions when the league splits. Bizarrely Chinnor would be in the North division.

Don't mention this to any Chester fans Fatbear...I think they have to travel to Redruth this season having been moved from the North to the West. ....sorry should have directed that to Se7en.

I've just paid £6 for an online feed to the game with OXSO Online Sport...fingers crossed it works.

Not sure what was going on with the Chinnor Twitter feed earlier, the below was posted at 7ish this evening (to all the Nat 1 clubs' pages Shocked) but is not a live stream at all??

The game at OBR back in Sep was streamed via NexGen but not this evening its seems.

Seems the power issues at the ground had a knock-on effect on the live stream. Had a nice email and refund from them, so I'd try them again if further streams are made available.
