To say that the Prem have gotten it wrong with the Prem Cup format this year wpuld be an understatement. 2 groups of 5, playing home and away. So basically you play half the league 4 times. They've managed to stretcher a series of meaningless dead rubbers even longer than previous format. It will take a lot of Red Bull to keep punters awake through that competition.

I reckon the last two words in this thread title are superfluous.

Prem Cup
Aren’t you glad we don’t play in it. However I see the other code are bringing back a 14 team Super League. Should the Prem be 12 or 14 clubs? Edited by kempstonblue - 04 Aug 2025 at 14:13 |

The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused.

Don't be silly we haven't got 14, or even 12 that meet the minimum criteria! 😂😂

Assuming the ten do, then 12 is trivial - Worcester and Doncaster are known to comply. If being in the premiership was financially viable, there are quite possibly close to 100 grounds that meet the criteria - and I am sure some of them would love an extra income stream. But, currently, it is an extra cost centre. |

Ospreys and Cardiff probably fit the criteria.
