As most clubs have returned to pre-season last week, any updates on signings and how the teams might line up this season?

I see Esher have retained majority of their squad and would expect them to be favourites…

Can someone clear up an argument?

Does Esher rhyme with Easter?

Someone is claiming that but it makes no sense.

The Club name is pronounced Eeesher. Some years ago I heard an announcer at Bridgwater welcome their visitors from Esher (rhymed with thresher) but, no, it is a long E so Esher rhymes with Teacher.

Only two of our squad have left. Having found him a job and accepted he needed a long run-in to be fit to play, after 5 appearances of the bench Jack Owlett has gone to Blackheath. The players' view is good riddance. Joe Parkes made a handful of appearances and has moved to Tonbridge Juddians. Every other player has re-signed. I know of 6 new recruits so far but won't name them until their signatures are dry on the paper.

Looking forward to our Centenary season which kicks off on Friday 25th August with an evening match against Newport, to which all are welcome at £10 a ticket. The gentlemen who founded Esher in the Wheatsheaf pub included two (or three) from Newport who insisted that their new Club played in the same colours as their old one. So the English Black and Amber are playing the Welsh Black and Amber. The only question is who wears their change strip.

But TJs say they don’t want to go up, at least that’s what they were saying last year

If rumours are correct there is a few more quality signings to come as well, a lot of talent not to try for promotion

Its a full on Old Elthamian reunion- Last year at least 50% of the side were Ex OEs every week, this year with the adding of McKeeie, Claxton, Brown, they could be pushing 65% ..

Dorking signing Craig Holland is a big bit of business!

Claxton was the one Id heard as well, quality 9 hadn't heard about Brown

Blackheath 19 Barnes 12 at half time, it is clear that "The Club" are much more powerful up front than when we last played them towards the end of last season

Esher 35-34 Newport - entertaining game under lights to celebrate our Centenary. Last minute try and touchline conversion to win. Gate of around 500 was great for the Club.

Fantastic game at The Greene King Haberden on Friday.... Ulster Academy (including a few Ireland U20s) played at a pace seldom seen at Nat 2 Level...the visitors coached by ex BSE DOR Gavin Hogg ran out 34 - 26 victors.
