League is starting to shape up with Barnstaple really looking like front runners after last seasons fall at the last hurdle!

Concerns starting to grow after some initial high expediencies for this young exciting Newbury team. We were second best all over the park on Saturday and CABs deserved their win. Some questionable kicking choices and the pack just don't look as dominant as last season, with a few guys still missing (?) A big lad in the row and back row changes from week to week with the back line looking very inexperienced some weeks.

Any one know of what happened down at WSM too? That was some result!

Anyway .. Round 7!

Drybrook Vs Brixham
Exeter Uni Vs Bracknell
Exmouth Vs Barnstaple
Ivybridge Vs WSM
Launceston Vs Okehampton
Maids Vs Blues

Spot on about the kicking decisions - 79th minute, chasing a losing bonus point, get possession and the ball is kicked into touch? Really need a first pick selection for a few weeks!

After my feeble prediction efforts last week anyone could do well to reverse all my guesses Wink

Drybrook v Brixham HW  (Still waiting for Brix to get their season into gear)
Exeter Uni v Bracknell HW  (I was very impressed with the ball handling by the Uni last week although their set piece was fragile)
Exmouth v Barnstaple AW   (Barum have lost their last 8 games at Exmouth so it will be very tough)
Ivybridge v WSM  AW (Should be a cracking game which could go either way)
Launceston v Okehampton  HW   (Another very difficult game to predict but Oaks have yet to win on the road)
Maids v Blues HW  (Maids should be too strong at home)

My guesses this week
Drybrook v Brixham HW Fishermen struggling this season
Exeter Uni v Bracknell HW Uni better at home
Exmouth v Barnstaple AW Barum the team to beat this season
Ivybridge v WSM HW Home advantage the deciding factor. Looks to be one of a few fixtures which could go either way.
Launceston v Okehampton HW Launceston appear to have turned the corner.
Maidenhead v Newbury Blues HW Could be a tough day for the Blues this week

A better performance from the Blues at Maids compared to last week v Launceston but another last gasp defeat away from home and losing bonus point.
See the Cornish All Black's won at Okes.. Looks like they are on the up

I think you will find that CAB's were at home 'NB'. Oaks are undefeated at home but have lost all of their away games - just saying Wink

I see Bromsgrove bt South Leicester 240-0 in the midland premier. (S.Leicester  have shipped 923 pts in  the 7 games they have played)

Just listened to the Bromsgrove coach on a podcast.
Seems S Leics lost most of their players after relegation so playing youngsters and due to injuries were down to 13 by end of the game.
He also comments that of the other 2 teams relegated with S Leics BHAm/Solihull have gone and Peterboro Lions also strughling and one week couldn't field a team.
The perils of over ambition without an solid financial base. It happens to Blues a few yrs ago when we plummeted thru the leagues and has taken a while for us to recover.

Over ambition perhaps, solid financial base possibly, most importantly however is good infrastructure, bringing players in doesn't bring in loyalty, as it is the choice of everybody  to play where they wish, there have been a number of teams in the Midlands recently have gone the same way and some with good infrastructure have managed to drop a league or two and are now making there way back.
