Nottingham 1-5 Hartpury - Hartpury too strong Doncaster Knights 5-2 Cornish Pirates - could go the other way, but home advantage, Knights had a tough 1st round of fixtures, seemed to be home to most of the top 6 in the 2nd half! Ampthill 5-1 Cambridge - Cambridge looked lively for 15-20 mins in the first half, but got blown away by Blues and I think Ampthill will be too strong Bedford Blues 5-1 Chinnor - Chinnor to get 4 tries, but Blues will be looking to win in style on a good pitch. Ealing Trailfinders 5-0 Coventry - may come back and give Coventry 1 or the win if Ealing try out some of the 3rd team squad players for contract purposes London Scottish 5-2 Caldy - could go the other way, but home advantage

Nottingham 5 v 2 Hartpury - It would be against current form but i think Nottingham might have one more big performance in them for their last home game. Doncaster 5 v 1 Cornish Pirates - Donny are in great form but Pirates won’t be fazed about coming to Castle Park - it’s been a good ground for them over the years. However, i think the Knights might have too much for them this time. Ampthill 5 v 0 Cambridge - Ampthill to win this with ease. Bedford 5 v 0 Chinnor - Same as above. Ealing 5 v 2 Coventry - I think Coventry will be more competitive than people expect but Ealing should win. London Scottish 2 v 5 Caldy - going for a surprise, Caldy will fancy their chances in this one having beat Nottingham away recently - and they got close at Pirates a few weeks back.

The only discounts are U18 and those who get their ticket online beforehand. If you get it today (maybe tomorrow not sure) you can save £4 on entry.

What can I say, multiple players needed surgery in the last week according to what I have heard on the grapevine. Bad luck? Longer season? I just know that there are people playing out of position.

Blues (3 tries) 19-19 (3 tries) Chinnor
Blues have butchered several chances and should’ve just had a penalty try from a block of the ball. Chinnor have taken advantage and scored off the little ball they have had often from Blues errors.
Blues go down the slope in the 2nd half.

Very impressed by Donny - Pirates kicked poorly too often giving the Donny backs a lot of opportunity to run into space, they were very slick and very fast. The game was close until a few minutes before half time when Donny ran in two spectacular individual tries. Then, just as the first half started Pirates infringed and from the line out Donny scored again; and that was pretty much game over. Fair play to Pirates, they kept going to the end and managed to work their way from near their own goal line to score at the other end with the final play. I'd love to see Donny win this league next season. A great club, with a first class stadium and lovely, friendly locals.

A very good performance by the Knights today. We never really let Pirates get into their stride. The defensive line speed by us was excellent and it forced a lot of errors from Pirates. Some of the tries we scored were excellent but I think the best score of the day was Telusa Veaniu going on a weaving run and leaving about 4 or 5 Pirates in his wake as he went over - absolutely class finish. Hopefully we can get the job done at Ampthill next week and secure 3rd, which I think would be a deserved reward for our form in the second half of the season. It’s a bit galling looking back at some of the silly games we lost in the early months of the season and thinking about where we could have been now - however, that’s in the past now and certainly in the last 10/11 games, we’ve been excellent and produced one of the best runs of form from any Knights side that I can remember since I first started following them in 2005.
I don’t think it’s being too one-eyed to say that we have been the best team in the league in the second half of the season, if there had been play-offs this season, I honestly believe Donny or Bedford would have won them, because I think us and Blues have been head and shoulders above every other team in the last 2-3 months.

I know we have one more game to go, but what a season for Blues to secure 2nd today. Like Knights a couple of close losses then we could have taken Ealing to the wire, but it is easy to forget a couple of close wins the other way.
Despite not quite clicking in the first half against Chinnor where it felt we were trying too hard and desperate to rack up the score, as the players had been eyeing up the game ever since the pre-Christmas loss. We managed to stretch clear in the 2nd half, despite Chinnor playing well.
Apparently we’re the only club to beat every club in the division after the win too. Although for Knights (looks like Nottingham beat you twice) to also do the double over Ealing is also impressive! Blues recorded just 2 losses at home all seasons, which were to Bath and Ealing, after leading both until late on and beat Bristol.
It will be hard next season to repeat this and it will be interesting who we recruit to replace some decent players that we are losing, but at least we have a good nucleus of a squad for continuity.

Watched the stream on delay in Scotland. This looked like a game played by two teams who knew there was nothing to play for but pride and highlight reels. I think even Bedford fans would have been impressed by the number of ridiculous offloads and generally absurd attempts to keep the ball alive. Fun to watch though!
