Jersey 5 - 2 Ealing The much awaited clash - home advantage just

Pirates 1 - 4 Hartpury Could just as easy be the other way round

Ampthill 1 - 5 Bedford Derby match, bedford being doing well so going with them

Caldy 2 - 5 Doncaster A battle Royle (sic)

Coventry 5 - 2 Nottingham Another Derby game the Archers to make them work - or not

Scottish 2 - 2 Richmond I really don't know so guessing a draw which would keep Richmond happy

Jersey 5-1 Ealing. I am hoping this crunch game goes with home advantage and that it is a try-fest.
Pirates 5-0 Hartpury. Pirates seem to have found their form again of late, and Hartpury have gone off the boil.
Ampthill 0-5 Bedford. Bedford are going well right now, and Ampthill have a long list of injured players. I am hoping though that the attendance will be higher then the Jersey game.
Caldy 1-5 Doncaster. Doncaster should win on paper, but this is a huge banana skin for them.
Coventry 5-0 Nottingham. Coventry are playing well, especially in front of their home stand.
L Scottish 4-1 Richmond. Whoever loses this might be relegated but I expect LS to have their Quins 2nd team on show and that might prove the difference.

Jersey 1 - 5 Ealing - I've been really impressed by Ealing over the past few weeks. I was down on them going into the game against Blues, but they pulled that out with several key players out (who should be back for Jersey). I think that they can do this.

Pirates 5 - 0 Hartpury - Can't believe Hartpury got thumped as they did last weekend.

Ampthill 1 - 5 Bedford - Ditto Ampthill.

Caldy 4 - 1 Doncaster - Caldy to bounce back at home.

Coventry 1 - 4 Nottingham - Nottingham made me look silly last weekend. Probably will again.

Scottish 1 - 4 Richmond - Love this match up, think that the Mighty Mond will turn out in force. Hope there is relegation still after meetings this Friday to keep this meaningful.

Jersey 2 - 4 Ealing - I so hope this is lived streamed . . this should be a cracker, a sell out crowd, warm weather, would love to be there . . if only promotion rested on this game!! WAKE UP RFU

Pirates 5 - 0 Hartpury  - Pirates looking good, Hartpury retired for the season.

Ampthill 1 - 5 Bedford  - Blues getting stronger

Caldy 4 - 1 Doncaster - Yes sort of feel the big pack of Caldy will savour this encounter . . . another bumper crowd .. .

Coventry 5 - 0 Nottingham  - Cov too good on plastic

Scottish 1 - 4 Richmond  - Everything crossed for Mond . . so more out of hope than anything!!!!!

I’ve missed predictions recently so time to catch up

Jersey 2 - 2 Ealing (I’m maybe being a coward with this pick but I genuinely have no idea!)
Cornish Pirates 5 - 0 Hartpury
Ampthill 1 - 5 Bedford
Caldy 5 - 2 Doncaster
Coventry 5 - 0 Nottingham
London Scottish 1 - 4 Richmond (Mond gave Cov a real shake last week)

-------------
Donny Knights - best team in Yorkshire

Jersey 3-2 Ealing In my dreams Ealing are winning 24-19 (3 tries each) with the clock in the red and Hamish Bain on as a sub crashes over near the corner to equalize and give the home team a try bonus you can guess what happens to the conv. I'm not sure who wins the league if it happens but I hope these two cracking teams show the prem what they are missing. I predict a crowd of  2648 board thumping bell ringing supporters and Sean will not run out of beer.
Pirates 5-1 Pury Banker home win
Amps3-3 Blues Should be a brilliant game
Ravers 2-5 Donny Another brilliant game which could go either way
Cov 5-1 Archers Home banker but Archers to score 4 tries
McQuins 4-2 Mond Exiles to be fully loaded but Mond to keep it close and score 4 tries - Please don't announce the score on this one at St Peter as I hope to see it afterwards.

The Pad Thai Noodles at El Tico will hit the spot and if your lads are up for it the Jungle Curry is serious food mate. Personally I would go for the Brizmeister's recommendation of the Moulles which are still great in April.

Jersey            5 - 2 Ealing

Reds at times have played imperious rugby

Pirates            5 - 1 Hartpury

HP to nick a point

Ampthill        1 - 5 Bedford

If Blues only had a better pack their backs look sublime

Caldy             4 - 1 Doncaster

really cannot understand Doncaster

Coventry       5 - 0 Nottingham

Cov a bit lucky last week but at home should win easily

McQuins       1 - 4 Richmond

THE BIG game at present one of these 2 teams will go down

I am not sure How many Quins are playing for LS but Quins are playing at Twickenham hoping for a top 4 place at the same time

Ealing team: Good to see Shingler healthy enough to return at 10. Overall, a solid squad. I'd still prefer DeWee on the pitch, and I'd put Davidson in alongside Maddison. I thought that James Cordy Redden was in amazing form, and I'd have picked him over Nathan Earle. Yeeealing!

15. Holmes
14. Daniels
13.Bodilly (50 caps)
12. Howard
11. Earle
10. Shingler
9. Hampson
8. Digby
7. Korczyk
6. Farrar
5. Maddison (c)
4. O'Connor
3. G. Davis
2. Walker
1. Gibbons

16. Malton
17.W. Davis
18. Kane
19. Davidson
20. Uzokwe
21. Burns
22. Lancaster
23. Montgomery

Jersey 4 - 1 Ealing … Been waiting for this game all season praying that it would have a bearing on the league and here we are. This will all come down to the team that eases into the game the quickest. Ealing have the best squad in the league and Jersey, arguably, the best team. I have to go for the best team (fingers crossed). Let’s get this party started!
Pirates 5 - 0 Hartpury … Pirates are a great team at home and if the forecast is correct, conditions will suit them.
Ampthill 1 - 5 Bedford … Another cracking derby game. Big crowd and big occasion. I have to go with The Blues, but never bet against the Mob to cause an upset!
Caldy 4 - 1 Doncaster … I was going to go for an away win here, but Caldy are pretty good at home which might swing it. Forward arm wrestle this one.
Coventry 5 - 0 Nottingham … And another derby, but Cov at home are just too good.
Scottish 2 - 5 Richmond … And the closest and most important derby of the lot. Head or heart is the question. LS had a great win last week to set this massive game up, but how many of the imports will play? I’m a romantic, I have to go with my heart in a nervy, but high scoring encounter

7 Quins and 1 Bristol loanee in the LS squad - 2 Quins starters at No.6 and No.11 and 5 on the bench. But of those 5, two have been let go by Quins so presumably not firestarters. Jurevicius is a good player. No Lynagh or Anyanwu which would have hurt because they both played for Richmond (LL was a Richmond mini too). And Jack Stafford (also a Quins loanee) is starting for Richmond - the only (I think) loan player in the 23.

What about the 'derby' (as paired by the authorities in the past) with Jersey, by car (3ish hrs) + ferry (4/5)?! Or the 'quick route' by car (2hrs 30  to Exeter) + flight (30 min)?!

Blues were at their best but sealed 4th.

Well done Jersey, you looked the better side in our recent games.

Were at that their best?
Or weren’t at their best?

Flipping rollercoaster

I hope you aren’t one of those walking back from the ground and was drawn into the lovely looking pubs that seem to grab hold of Rugby supporters leaving a match.

Lovely day at Caldy - weather was decent, my first time there nice ground, people were very welcoming. And we won 😁

Wow! Ok let’s start with the hundred or so of ET fans who made the trip over to Jersey. Brilliant support, gracious in defeat. And then add in the imperious performance from Jersey. They were quite superb today and just ran the show.
Yes, it was very nervous towards the end as Ealing cleared their lines, but IMHO Jersey were worthy winners today in front of a 3k plus crowd!!

Another Ealing fan here wanting to say congratulations to Jersey for a thoroughly deserved win, which should have been by more but for some outstanding defence on the goal line! I’m currently recovering after a brilliant evening in The Lamplighter back in St Helier! Was great to see such a big and enthusiastic crowd, with a lot of noise created by both sets of fans! Took a while to dry off after the second half soaking…

3720 watching the game at Coventry yesterday as well.  Brilliant atmosphere, loads of noise, slow service at the bars afterwards not helped by wifi dropping out which scuppers the new card payment systems.

3720 for a game that had absolutely no bearing on anything.
Shows what can, and should, be done.

Great to see big crowds at these games. Coventry getting that many is brilliant for a game, as Kimbo says, that had nothing on it. We had over 1500 at The Pirates on a wet and chilly day, which was lovely to see as we've not had a great season with a young and inexperienced squad. Looking forward to May 5th (which happens to be my birthday!) when we host Jersey in the semi-final of the cup. I expect the Mennaye will be jumping on that evening!

Great photo CC. Who says that the league is meaningless without promotion!! Those lads played their hearts out.

It would have been 3721 at Cov if I wasn’t down with sinusitis and a throat infection! LOL
Gutted I missed it. It sounded like quite a game.

Thanks EE. It takes two teams to make a gripping game and Ealing left it all on the pitch yesterday. A shout out to the Ealing 10 who took the banter dished out to him in good spirits. He even asked if we had a pint as he was gasping for a drink, but settled for the water that we offered him.
The rain probably suited Jersey better, but it did cost us a score as the ball slipped out as we were about to go over to score. Cracking afternoons entertainment.

Or if I wasn't 1500km away from Cov at the mo.

Congratulations to Jersey, commiserations to Ealing. Two very strong teams who have made the fight for the title, if not promotion, a very worthwhile competition.

For Doncaster we sealed our top 6 position yesterday, with other results doing us favours. Our season of terrible injuries is coming to an end, a few of the lads injured in month one / two of the season are just coming back into the squad. Ealing at home next week - wonder how Ealing will respond to yesterday (I think we might feel that backlash). A week later we visit them for the Cup Semi Finals where if we win, and if we score more tries than either Jersey or Pirates in their win, we host the final at Castle Park. Quite a few ifs in there 😁. A strange season for us, I have my fingers crossed that next season we do not suffer so many freak injuries - and we can again be battling at the top of the league and hopefully be involved in a similar game with the same amount of jeopardy late on in the season.

Helped by the 'derby*' pairings, the league racked up 14,406 total attendance yesterday, an average of 2,401. And hopefully quite a few viewers for the 3 streams that were available as well...

* I know some of these matches aren't derbies in the generally-understood sense, no need to point out... Big smile

Brilliant coverage on the RFU streams - particularly top class performance from Tim & Tom who stepped up to the plate for the game at St Peter when the commentary first team were covering the game at the RAG. I thought the match officials were exceptional and if they missed anything I didn't see it. No cards of any colour in a game like with such a lot resting on it was brilliant. The disallowed "try" in the second half was clearly correct for crossing and when it boiled up briefly in the second half the whole team defused the situation without fuss. Three thousand watched it live and in a monsoon in the second half the atmosphere from both sets of fans was great. Did the game get a mention on Rugby tonight?

The one thing that I'm taking away from this game, and the second half of the season in general for Ealing is that they desperately need a top tier head coach. When Jonathan Thomas left for Wales just after the Christmas game with Jersey I immediately saw a change for the worse in selection policy and match day performance. For example, up until the time that JT left, Ealing had given up ZERO rolling maul tries, and they've given up loads since.
Ben Ward is Ealing through and through, and I've enjoyed chatting with him on several occassions, but given the quality of the squads that he has had, I don't feel like he's succeeded in crafting those players into something that is greater than the sum of its parts, whereas Harvey Biljon seems to have achieved that consistently.

I have been slaughtered over the years by Ealing fans before by saying Ben Ward is simply not up to it.

I guess in his defence this year maybe he hasn’t let down the club but the higher powers have as I’m sure after winning the league last year and not being able to go up the players would have been told it would not happen this year. Not being able to be promoted must have had an effect on the players.

Will Ealing struggle now to attract the same type of player next year? Probably not as money still talks.

It looks like we're getting Billy Twelvetrees and Jordy Reid from Gloucester, so Mr Gooley is definitely still making decent investments in the playing squad!

This seems amazingly harsh mate. Ealing will finish the season with close to 100 points out of an absolute maximum of 110 and IF Jersey pip them next Saturday it is likely to be by the narrowest of margins. Ben Ward has assembled a brilliant squad of players and over the last dozen or so years has gained experience from every set back. Years ago he tried to pull all the strings himself but over time has added real quality technical coaches which make the Ealing squad formidable. He will look at this season and probably conclude that he rested too many first choice players away at Caldy in the mud and came up against a seriously powerful Jersey pack who might trouble a few teams at a higher level. Ealing will be an even more formidable squad next season under Ben Ward with the experience gained.
