Great effort by the Pirates last night, quick turnaround after Sunday's home game. These were the sort of challenging games we were losing by narrow margins last season.

Well played to Coventry. Ealing pushed them around to start the match but Cov won the battle of physicality as the game progressed, and Ealing were mentally weak to give up a two try lead with 13 minutes left. Kickers deserve a prize for being a collective 8/8 in abysmal conditions.

Greg, you are a master of the understatement. ‘Mentally weak’ doesn’t even come close. That was one of the worst examples of game management that I have ever witnessed. Fourteen points ahead, in total control with ball in hand, lousy conditions - how do we play this? Of course, STICK IT UP THE JUMPER! Yeah, in your dreams. No, let’s kick aimlessly to keep a spirited and capable opposition in the game. Let’s forget how to tackle (third empty 13 shirt in a row). Let’s cough up easy possession in our own 22. Some days you can go right off rugby.

Sorry, I had no intention to down-play Coventry’s performance. They fully merited the result. My point was they should never have had the required possession to achieve the result.

Not sure how you interpreted that as patronising.

42 points to 19 sounds like a hammering but although Falcons were definitely a load better than jersey as an away supporter I came away from the game with loads of positives. For the full 80 minutes Jersey went full out to take the game to Newcastle with ball in hand, scored three tries and could easily have scored a couple more but for the home sides magnificent defence. Jersey's scrum, lineout, discipline & breakdown work was miles better than that awful first half at Vallis Way. Injuries continue to mount but I hope Jersey keep playing to win games and make their supporters proud. Falcons were exceptional - special mention to Joel Hodgson who gets better every time I see him play and Billy Wizz on the wing for lighting up the match with that try - where were you the other 79 minutes of the match mate - the awesome thing was I watched a Falcons second string play Stirling after the match and concluded that they would beat most teams in the Championship. A special thanks for the wonderful home supporters who put up with the Southern invasion of the South Stand -complete with cowbells! I hope Jersey give your team a decent match in at least one of the remaining couple of matches this season.

Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

Ealing Cov was good advert for championship rugby Can have no complaints about the result cov well worthy of the draw and had there been longer left on the clock they may well have knicked it. They are a very good side and Luke Wallace had a good game on his return to Vallis Way. Good luck for the rest of the season

Cheers Eel.
Yes, as you say a good advert for Championship rugby. I’d also say helped very significantly by excellent refereeing.
