Doncaster 0 - 5 Newcastle -

Blues 0 - 5 Coventry - I can't say how defeated Blues looked last week. Coventry rampant.

Jersey 4 - 0 Hartpury - The collegiates to be beaten by a recently reinforced Jersey.

Pirates 5 - 0 Leeds - A good game for Pirates to get back on track.

Ampthill 1 - 5 Ealing - Ealing to score a lot, but leak a few as well.

Nottingham 1 - 5 Scottish - Scottish taking the cup seriously.

Doncaster 1-4 Newcastle - this is the big one!. hopefully Donny can pull out a huge performance. Newcastle will know they've been in a battle after 80 minutes. Knights to get close but fall short.
Bedford 5-2 Coventry - loads of points in this game but Bedford to show a big reaction after the debacle last week.
Jersey 5-0 Hartpury - Jersey too strong for HC at home.
Cornish Pirates 5-0 Leeds - this could be a total whooping. Pirates by 50.
Ampthill 0-5 Ealing - can't see an upset in this one.
Nottingham 5-1 London Scottish - two good teams. Notts to do it at home in a good game.

Ealing Trailfinders team to play Ampthill on Saturday 7th December in Round Five of the Championship Cup at Dillingham Park: Interesting mix here. The backs are largely unchanged, although good to see Peter Lydon at least named to the bench. Surprised to see the entire back row and most of the other forwards rotated, but probably a good idea to get some rest in, especially for poor Rayn Smid. I think this is his second game not starting in several years. I think there is enough continuity not to be too disrupted, and this will make sure that we don't accidentally end up short of players due to missing out people from being cup tied.

15 Tommy Bell 14 Elijah Niko 13 David Johnston 12 Harry Sloan 11 Reon Joseph 10 Craig Willis 9 Nathan Fowles 1 Jordan Els 2 Alun Walker 3 Elliot Millar Mills 4 Sam Dickinson (c) 5 James Cannon 6 Shane Buckley 7 Oli Robinson 8 Kieran Murphy

Replacements:

16 Matt Cornish 17 Jake Ellwood 18 George Davis 19 Harry Casson 20 Ben West 21 Jordan Burns 22 Peter Lydon 23 Rayn Smid

Should be a decent close game at St Peter tomorrow. The easy option of picking a pack to put the game out of sight rejected in favour of loads of changes and a strong bench. I hope they play downhill second half as I watch from the 5 metre line at that end. Great to see Pembo & Van Dam back in time for the key match next week against the barcodes.

Very good from Ampthill who capitalised on lashings of west London generosity. If the Ampthill lineout had been anything like functioning they would have won. As it was, Ealing scored 10 points in the last 8 minutes whilst down to 14 players to scrape an ill-deserved victory.

Is that right? The Beeb have you down as having 16 points (not that I'd trust that particular corporation as far as I could throw it!).
We both have very tough away fixtures next week, so could be interesting. Odds slightly favouring Cov for the home QF at the mo though, I think.

Just got back from the away trip. Ampthill played very well. They took all of their chances, were extremely disciplined, but showed great aggression at the breakdown to force a number of turnovers. The lineout was, however, a major weakness for Ampthill and kept Ealing in the game.

Ealing played a decent game as well, but suffered from a number of mental errors, especially with silly knock ons, including one past the try line by Craig Willis that set up an Ampthill try. Ealing were massively saved by Jordan Burns coming on around 65 minutes - he injected a startling level of pace to the game and made an immense individual break to score Ealing's 3rd try. The bonus point was within Ealing's grasp in the last five minutes, but Matt Cornish went for one pass too many when he might have been better served by putting his head down (also created by a Burns break). Still, the phase of play led to an Ealing penalty kick for the win.

Ampthill look every bit a Championship calibre club to me. Also, I'd keep an eye out for them in an upcoming issue of Rugby World Magazine based on the photographer that was there. No issue with the official this week ;)

A small crowd but a decent game - well played Hartbury that lad playing 8 is a star turn and was my man of the match. First job done by Jersey in that they make the last 8 but hats off to the coaches for managing the squad and giving game time to a couple of lads who have almost been invisible and bringing Van Dam & Pembo back into the frame for the real challenge next week. Jersey can beat the barcodes at KP and I'm going!

Kimbo - I thought you'd completed enough laps of the block to have realised that the BBC results/tables at our level are not to be relied on [smiley face emoji] - I think you'd have to say the odds for a home QF were more than 'slightly favouring' Cov when you have a 3-pt lead (20-17) in the rankings and both sides have tough away games.

Entertaining game at our place I thought. Took a while to put Hartpury away, partly down to Reds' inaccuracy, but also Hartpury's tenacity. I too hope that we can give it a good crack at KP next weekend - nothing to lose.

agree with that. I thought that was one of Donny's best performances of the season. we gave Falcons a couple of soft scores in the 2nd half but I thought Donny played pretty well overall.

Eight Pirates tries, 5 in the second half. Carnegie’s attacking threat personified by a period of possession in the second half where they lost 30 yards over ten phases. Some nice Pirates tries but in truth we should have had more with a little more precision.

I agree with all that was said about the game in Jersey on Saturday. Hartpury played their part in an entertaining game. Jersey will need to play better if they want to get anything out of the game in Newcastle this weekend.
One point though, the Hartpury No. 8 is a star in the making BTW. I don’t see him at 8, but he has pace to burn and has some bulk about him. He covered at wing and looked really dangerous. Personally, I think that he needs to be in the game so I would play him at 12 or if he can catch, at Full Back. Some future though.
