Yes, extract from BBC website:

"We've been looking for a certain type of player," director of rugby David Humphreys https://www.gloucesterrugby.co.uk/2020/03/05/gloucester-rugby-delighted-to-announce-arrival-of-flanker-jordy-reid-for-2020-21-season/" rel="nofollow - told the Gloucester website.

"Jordy has been one of the standout players in the Championship over the past couple of seasons and, having watched him play for Ealing this season, I believe the Gloucester Rugby supporters will love his style of play."

Even more than that, he was given the opportunity to get back into Rugby when he'd been out for a year due to injury, and pretty much left on the scrap heap. I'm sad to see him go, but glad to see that he can go on. Though caveat emptor to Gloucester, he is still relatively injury prone (out at the moment, and had a good stint out last year as well).

Cornish Pirates Canadian International Matt Evans has announced his retirement from the game. Matt scored 62 tries in 130 appearances for the club and played in the 2011 and 2015 world cups for Canada. The good news is that he is staying at the club to become team manager.

Jordy Reid improved his rugby at Ealing . There was a marked difference in his ball carrying and defence. His stats show how many dominant tackles he makes and it was on an upwatd trend over two seasons.

Ealing could never claim that he was 'produced' by them but his game was enhanced whilst playing for Ealing Trailfinders over two seasons of Championship rugby.

Jersey Reds Forwards Coach Neil Tunnah has signalled his intention to move on to a new assignment at the end of the current season.
Reds Director of Rugby Harvey Biljon said he would like to thank Tunnah for his contribution over the last three seasons and wish his colleague every success in the next stage of his career.
Biljon said: “I would like to say that while Neil has challenged and brought new ideas, he has also been a fantastic support to me during his time with the Reds. He has had a really positive influence on the players and enhanced our reputation of continuing to transition players from the Championship up to the Premiership.”
Tunnah said: “I’d like to thank everyone at The Reds for the last three seasons in Jersey, particularly Harvey and the club for the opportunity to relocate here and challenge myself as a coach in a new environment.
“The club has played a huge part in my development as a coach at this stage of my career. Over the course of the last three seasons I have been challenged to think and coach in ways that will shape my coaching for the rest of my career.
“I would also like to thank the rest of the staff for their support, as well as the rugby community and supporters of the club.”
Tunnah, 40, moved to Jersey in May 2017 and in the two completed seasons since his arrival the Reds finished fifth and fourth in the Greene King IPA Championship rankings. The Scotsman returned to Europe after seven years coaching in Australia following the conclusion of his playing career in 2010.

A top bloke who will be hugely missed.

Okay - raft of re-signings announced by Ealing in their Ealing Trailfinder Times magazine: Pat Howard, Rayn Smid, Steven Shingler, Alun Walker and Jack Tovey all re-sign for 20/21.

Alun Walker and Ryan Smid re-sign for Ealing on 2 and 3 year deals.

Reon Joseph, has decided to follow at alternate career path outside rugby and has retired. Very promising winger.

Talk about mixed news. I'm honestly shocked by the Reon Joseph decision. He was a 21 year old winger who started every game but one this season and finished 4th in tries in the Championship. A real blow for Ealing as I think he was their nailed on starter for the next few years in terms of planning, with the worry being that someone would poach him not that he would retire!  A local lad who came through the academy system at Ealing as well, he was a real fan favorite. I hope he doesn't come to regret this decision - I think we all made some bad ones in our early 20s.

I have been told that he was approached by several premiership teams but wants to pursue his love of digital imaging CGI. I think in the current climate and uncertainty in Rugby he has made the correct decision. The injuries are increasing it seems at the higher levels. He is young enough in a year or two to come back if he wants to.

Retiring at 21 is a shame; I guess there is the possibility of playing at a decent level in Nat 1 (maybe even Ch'ship) as a semi-pro player, for a player who didn't want to give up the game...

A person has a very limited number of years at peak physical condition (unless you are Mark Bright), and I think that goes double for a winger who relies on speed. He'll have the rest of his life to sit in a cubicle. I don't know his circumstances or whether there might be any underlying injuries, but I hope he has really thought about that aspect.

Yes I read that, I'm sure he'd prefer to stay in England but needs must I suppose.

Just to confirm, Seb Cecil has joined Watsonians in Edinburgh. Seb was a 1st class player and will be a huge loss, I'm pleased for him but gutted for Nottingham.

I haven’t heard anything other than what’s been mentioned by the club- in other words nothing yet! All I heard was Alistair Bow in the interview with the Rugby Paper saying that they were trying to get as many on retained contracts as they can but he didn’t elaborate any further.

I have great sympathy for both club and players. One assumes the vast majority of players at Nottingham were/are there because they are on a full time wage. Now the club has announced there will no longer be full time players, for a player to stay he has to get a job away from rugby, probably to be his major monthly income-but who is giving medium to long term reasonably paid jobs out at the moment?  If the player has a working partner/wealthy parents staying may be possible but if not how will his sums add up? Until the player secures that non rugby employment how can he commit to a rugby contract for the club to then announce? Until the clubs know exactly their financial positions- no clubs yet no when any money will start coming in again- how can clubs in good conscious offer contracts that they may later have to renege upon? Incredibly difficult for all concerned.

Agree with your thoughts , on the positive Nottingham has a reputation for developing players and helping them move up the system this shouldn't change as we are retaining some good coaches. We may be looking more Uni level players and with our ties with NTU that should continue hopefully as per the boards statement we can develop the tie with Nottingham Uni. There are a very good number of corporate links which could help with jobs but that's only when the country comes out of the C19.
Being old and ancient it reminds me of the pre professional times when Nottingham was near the top table and a string of guys came to play because of the corporate contacts .

I see that Ma'ama Molitika of Ampthill has retired.
Molitika has been a great forward, often making the difference between success or defeat for Ampthill. I remember a few years ago when Ampthill finished as runners up to Hull Ionians in N2N, the home match at Brantingham Park was a low scoring cracker. I think we won 7-5 and the reason we did not score more was simply Molitika. He was outstanding. At 45, Molitika has certainly earned his retirement.

I guess that applies to many signings making the Champ-Prem jump: specialists (those who play at 1/2/3/9/10) are likely to have at least 3 rivals for a single shirt in the starting XV. Perhaps a bit easier for locks/centres/wings etc who are at least shooting for multiple shirts and can be a bit more versatile.

Looking at Jersey's ex-players over the years, some have slotted in as regulars but others have to make do with bit parts...

(Excuse the intrusion on the Champ board, there's diddly squat to discuss on Nat 1.)

(mis)applying the old forces dictum of:

rank x intelligence = k;

is there a certain paralell at L1.5-L3.5 of

ability x game time = k?

Thinking a little bit of Dan Mugford who went Notts-Sale-Plymouth... (If he stays with Taunton, he'll be back at L3 next season.)

Not surprisingly as :-

It's a key position
2 scrum halves in every match squad
Scrum halves tend to be smaller players therefore liable to be injured more

Not sure it's the first D999, there have been unofficial 'linked with' stories in TRP involving Sarries & various Jersey Reds players for at least a couple of months. Mind you, one of those mentioned (winger Leroy van Dam) has since officially joined a French ProD2 club, while another has been 'linked with' no fewer than 3 clubs in the English 'top 13'...

Afraid not Shush but from what you’re saying I am really not surprised. Have spoken to a few other people and they have said that there’s a lot of unhappy people there. I do know that next season will probably essentially be the NTU team running out for us and from that I gathered that there would be many departures. I’ve heard rumours about Tigers sniffing round a few (Williams has been mentioned more than once and possibly Spittle) and how Jonah Holmes has gone they might well be in the market for a couple of pacey wingers. I don’t know anything concrete though- it’s all just gossip and reading into the interviews that have put out in public.

Agreed Camquin just wondering if all the new signings contracts have some form of caveat if C19 gets worse and there is no rugby

That would be sensible.

I would say it would be very foolish for any club to commit itself to contracts for the future without caveats to cater for this.

Rugby Paper states that Jack Spittle of Nottingham has signed for Doncaster Knights. Will be a massive loss but not so much of a surprise.

If true, it's a big signing for us

No- I hadn’t heard that. I only knew about Jack Spittle as it was in the Rugby Paper. That and some of the Premiership forums are my only source of information at the moment!

Did Shush confirm JP was staying?

The signing thread used to be for done-deals, but now it’s ‘relaxed’ to gossip/rumours, some of which come to pass while others don’t...

Not joining the Knights, doesn't necessarily mean staying

I don't know whether he's staying with Nottingham, I just know he's not off to Doncaster.

Am sure quite a few of the Nottingham guys will be offered contracts with other clubs as Nottingham go part time, sadly its the way of the world and Nottingham are used to it more than most as they have never had a big investor. We have always lost a number of players every year , this time there will be a lot more but hopefully we will attract more good young players who wish to develop and move to the higher levels

It's a good job that clubs don't have any history of being foolish with money then isn't it RaiderLOL

Great news. Dan is a rising star. Mobile and very elusive and powerful ball carrier.

Another good signing for CP. He was very good whenever he appeared for us last season.

I thought Pirates had some money issues from the announcement by Dicky Evans, pleased to see it doesn’t appear to be the case with all these 2 year contracts.

Not sure who they will be playing as per my previous comments still expect the RFU to pull all financing from the Championship especially following todays cancellation of all pre season internationals. Desperately hope am talking bull s..t but not sure how many teams will continue at this level

Im sure some will cope.
And the tours have been postponed, not cancelled. As they are overseas tours surely the revenue gained would have been less than if they were playing at Twickenham anyway? I’m not sure on this one. Given the size of the backlash that occurred when the funding was cut, and also the threats of legal action, it could be entirely possible that they weigh up the costs of funding against a couple of expensive lawsuits and decide they don’t need the hassle. That could me being overly optimistic but I don’t know on this one.

Most of the Pirates announcements relate to players who were contracted for two years before the truncated 2019/20 season. We have re signed two hookers who were out of contract and given contracts to two players previously D/R ed from Exeter who have been released by the Cheifs.

Hooker Tom Cowan-Dickie is the latest player to agree a new 2 year contract to remain at the Cornish Pirates.
( Dickie Evans recently announced that all management, coaches and players contracted for this season had agreed to take a 15% reduction in their salary. Despite his own business interests taking a big hit due to the Coronavirus pandemic he has continued to support the club.)
