This made me chuckle yesterday, the article in the Rugby Times regarding the cloudberry abuse received by Luther Burrell (not a laughing matter) and the comments by Martin "Offiah, who spent a short time in union at Wasps during the 2001-2 season,"

And there was me thinking he had started his career in Union at Rosslyn Park but obviously I was mistaken.... Wink

'Chariots' was also featured by @apsmrugby channel on Twitter yesterday with a 2-minute clip of outrageous tries. They also mentioned Wasps, but not RP. Nor Bedford, where he played a season in the 90s. Nor Ipswich, where I've just learned via Wikipedia that he played some of his formative RU.

I guess RU should be flattered when some in RL claim a great player as 'one of their own'...

I recall a Middlesex Sevens final with Offiah for RP against Harrriman in the quarters.

I believe "Charriots" was educated at a school run by the Greater London council but near Ipswich and run on public school line ie boarding, sport, prep etc. The Claxton brothers of AQuins fame were also educated there, can't for the life of me remember the name.

I can recall watching Chariots play for Surrey Colts against Sussex Colts at Rosslyn Park in the 1980s! He was a product of rugby union and developed his skills and pace in our game before moving to league.

Martin was a uniquely and naturally talented individual. To 'claim' him is being somewhat disingenuous.
Celebrate him for what he was in the round. Not where he started.

"In the round" as you call it,  may never have happened if his first club hadn't helped him get underway!  Credit is duly deserved.

What if the Hokey Kokey really IS what it's all about?
