Archers 5 - 1 McQuins - Should be a fast open game but at home Archers should do it

Donny 2 - 5 Ealing - Donny will push them all the way but Ealing should do it

Blues 3-3 Cov Game of the round between two cracking teams - Could go either way

Pury 4 - 1 Ravers - Tight North west derby but Pury should just do it

Jersey 5 - 0 Amps - In front of another huge crowd surely Jersey can do it in  the sunshine

Mond 4 - 1 Pirates - visitors will surely rest a few ahead of their big game in Penzance the following Friday night

Nottingham 5-2 L Scottish. Provided Scottish have their Quinn’s this will be very close but Nottingham have improved too.
Doncaster 1-5 Ealing. The away side can only do what is in their control. I think they will gain the bonus win but I think it will be in vain.
Bedford 5-2 Coventry. A possible try fest in front of another big crowd.
Hartpury 5-1 Caldy. Probably four tries to three.
Jersey 5-0 Ampthill. The Mob have picked up points in Jersey but I think a huge crowd and the occasion will see the home side deservedly crowned Champions.
Richmond 0-5 Pirates. Richmond must win but the Pirates are a professional club and should do their job with a bonus win.

Nottingham 1 - 5 Scottish … As much as I want this result to be the other way round, I think that LS will call on all of their resources and make sure that LS play championship rugby next season.
Doncaster 1 - 5 Ealing … Ealing to win big… just in case
Bedford 5 - 2 Coventry … Game of the week. A crowd pleaser with close to 100 points.
Hartpury 5 - 1 Caldy … Another entertaining game and could go either way.
Jersey 5 - 0 Ampthill … Ampthill are more than capable of spoiling the party, but I think that Jersey will go hard and fast from the first whistle and try to get it in the bag by HT…. Well, we can dream. Only very nervous for this one
Richmond 4 - 1 Cornish Pirates … Mond have to win this and I think that they will leave it all on the pitch and some. But will it be in vain? I hope not.

Good luck everyone and once again, it has been an absolute pleasure…. Off to pray now

Nottingham 2-5 L Scottish -  Quins finally in a good place, they need this Notts dont
Doncaster 0-5 Ealing -  Ealing have to show how professional they are!
Bedford 5-2 Coventry - This should be fun fun fun
Hartpury 1- 4 Caldy - Caldy to bully college boys who are given a run for next year
Jersey 5-0 Ampthill - Victory procession, Amps will make it tough but Jerseys Crown
Richmond 0-5 Pirates - No other outcome possible  . . sad for Richmond, just too many injuries and to small a squad after so many left or retired last year.

Predictions:
Nottingham 5 - 2 London Scottish - I think Notts will sneak this one and keep Mond alive for at least another day
Doncaster 5 - 2 Ealing - Trailfinders need the 5 points but Donny aren’t about to roll over and let them have it easily. I think we have a good chance here. Ealing don’t like this trip.
Bedford 2 - 5 Coventry - Two very impressive teams but just think that Cov might have too much power over 80 minutes. Points fest in store.
Hartpury 5 - 1 Caldy - Think Caldy’s tank is virtually empty but I’m sure they will put on a good performance with it being the season finale, however I think Pury will be too strong.
Jersey 5 - 0 Ampthill - I don’t think this will be an entirely stress-free occasion for the Reds but I think the party will start in the last 10/15 minutes as they pull away.
Richmond 1 - 5 Cornish Pirates - As much as I hope to be wrong with this I just don’t see Mond scoring enough points against a Pirates team that’s hitting a bit of form towards the end of the season. A rotated Pirates team with the cup in mind would maybe make me re-assess.

All of a sudden I’m nervous. The Ampthill encounters have generally been pretty tight and The Mob will certainly not be making the trip to make the numbers up and would love to spoil the party, especially as a pay-back for the Twickenham game in 2010.
IF Jersey play anywhere near their best, then I can’t see Ampthill matching them, but should the Reds fall ofc the pace, then it could be a nervy encounter….. I’m not sure that I could do another one of those!!

Blues squad is on the weaker side with not many Saints involved and a couple having a game after long periods of not playing. Also starting with 2 fly half’s so it looks like we are going creative for the back 3 to shine.

I saw McQ/Mond highlights last w/e & having seen Mark Bright come in off in great discomfort I didn't expect him to feature in the next game, but see he's made the bench for tomorrow's game. One of two 44-year-olds in action this weekend, with Aleki Lutui over to Jersey with the Mob...

Absolutely stinks. Don’t have a problem with Scottish as a club but the rules on D/R players are a complete farce. Another masterclass in incompetence from the RFU. Mind you, I guess if you have only won one league game since October you run the risk of getting shafted like this.

I’m not blaming Scottish for using the Quins link-up to their advantage, multiple clubs have done so in the past. I just don’t personally think the rules are right. Having said that, to win 3 straight games in this league is never easy so you have to give LS credit for going on a great run to stay up from a virtually impossible position.

Personally I have no issue with LS staying up, however they have managed to do so, as long as it is within the laws of the game and league.
I do have an issue with a side being relegated and being replaced by a failed/bankrupt club. That is what stinks.
Never forget that LS have been a great contributor to this division for a number of years.
And Mond are one of the best clubs in the country.

From someone who was at the match tonight. A couple of observations. (Nottingham fan)

Scottish were fierce tonight. They really wanted it and no matter what we did to them they came back at us. Fair play Scottish. Deserved win. I said to my other half that it was going to be a hard game and it 100% was.

With regards to the DR’s- meh. People used to say that about us. We had DR’s in the team tonight. If it wasn’t LS it would be someone else. If the RFU funded us as a league properly it wouldn’t be necessary to borrow players that someone else is paying because we can’t afford to (by we I mean we as a league)

There was an excellent turn out however there was one very loud and persistent Scottish fan in the stands who was constantly bawling, including when kicks were taken. He (for it was a male voice so I’m assuming it was a he) was also swearing repeatedly and loudly- and granted it was a late ko but there was still children around and also people who didn’t want to hear the F word in their ears every 30 seconds.

It was chaos at the end- there were a couple of pitch invaders and there were constant attempts to get on the pitch. I know that’s okay at Scottish- but when the security say no and they do it anyway that’s not okay.

When all’s said and done- congratulations Scottish. We’ll see you next season.
Have a good one, all. Best of luck to all the teams playing tomorrow.

I wish Caldy and most of the remaining Championship teams all the luck in the world next season. The truth is that with loan players enabling some teams to run very low numbers of playing members, riding the bumps of injury losses with greater ease, the Championship is a very tough place for traditional rugby clubs to survive.

Richmond will continue to be a great club with its own welcoming home, not reliant on the goodwill of neighbours and proudly owned by its members.

Yes, I am bitter and I am a sore loser. A few seasons ago we were shafted by the absurdity of “Yorkshire Carnegie” and the DR-abuse of Hartpury. This time it’s by a team that, well, words fail me, but they were once a club.

I hope rugby some time rediscovers its soul and heart so that clubs that run four men’s XVs, 2 women’s, a Vets XV and hundreds of minis can still make it at Tier 2 level. Hence my particular good wishes to Caldy - and those who operate as community clubs.

But in the meantime I will try to swallow my bitterness and look forward to playing against some fine old clubs in Tier 3. We will miss many if not quite all of the excellent sides we played against the past few years and wish almost all of you the best of luck. There were great hosts and great visitors. I’m sure you all know which I’m leaving out of my thoughts at this point.

I doubt we will be back in T2 because next season the RFU will have fouled it up in some other nonsensical way and it will be a 10-team league. But I will follow the scores and hope that good, spirited rugby clubs and sporting teams prevail. Sorry for the sour grapes. It’s hard to lose what feels like an unfair contest.

“It’s not fair” is of course the child’s response to disappointment, but when that particular part of your brain sends that particular signal about fairness, that’s how you feel.

Richmond will only be relegated if Wasps actually find a stadium and a team.
Currently, I see no prospect of that, so there is still hope you could continue at level 2.

This is so wrong on Richmond however as a consolation if they do go down at least as consolation they will be playing in a proper league next season. League games week in week out, no pointless cups, some good old rugby clubs & grounds that play a very good standard of rugby. I wish them well.

I feel for Richmond supporters they are a traditional club and there are only a few in the Championship. They have a consistency and a club spirit that makes them special......if you do not have that I don't know what the point is....

I fervently hope that the Wasps Phoenix doesn't get a Championship spot but even though I really, really like Richmond I believe that in those circumstances the fair thing to do is to promote two from National 1 rather than save Richmond.

I would feel the same way if Caldy were in the relegation spot.

This may not be a bad thing for Richmond and their supporters. They have always been towards the bottom of the league and now they can enjoy winning more than they lose in National Division One.

Thanks, Big Eddie. And everyone on this forum.

To clarify one point: it is my understanding that the issue of relegation is entirely separate from the dubious creation of space in the Championship for whatever this Wasps misadventure is. So even if Wasps were to fly off into the sunset tomorrow, relegation from this league would take place anyway.

The slightly galling thing is that if the Championship had not changed the relegation rules from the RFU standard regulation 106, Richmond would still have a lifeline this afternoon which is that a 5-point win over Pirates (not very likely) would have saved us because we would have had one more draw than the team which is on the same number of points and same number of wins.

I doubt we would get a bonus-point win over the Pirates, but stranger things have happened on the last day of a season and it is more likely than the current target, which is to beat Pirates by about 100 points!!

For the ordinary purposes of conversation, a superficial knowledge of many things goes further than an intimacy with one or two.

Congratulations Jersey, deserved champions. To only lose one game is seriously impressive.

Also worthy of note, the Championship was a more compelling competition than the Premiership this season.

They came within seconds of losing a second one. I still can't quite believe how Cov snatched that draw from the jaws of victory. Wink
But, yes, well done Jersey.

Welcome Cambridge.
Almost says it all but I will add my congratulations to Scottish who have survived in the Championship against all odds. I have always felt welcome when I have visited Scottish who have a great history. I hope they retain their identity going forward. Did little boring Jersey really win the Championship and are they really the twelfth best club side in England or will I wake up with a very sore head tomorrow?

Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.
