I found and read this article and was taken with the key points made in the last twenty something years about the second tier of Rugby Union in England.

The insight to the politics that surround our game and an individual who has dealt with the skullduggery and under hand maneuveres of the RFU and other Rugby organisations.

It is a long winded article but I was intrigued by the content from start to finish. The overwhelming  point that comes across is the dedication and and fortitude that Geoff Irvine has given to the game of Rugby and his Club Bedford Blues.

Best quote from the article Geoff Irvine :

‘the illegitimate child (the Championship) that was fathered by the RFU is being sent to the orphanage!’.

Saw the article is from Sam Roberts, the man on the mic in between BT sport commentating.

Funny you share this after 25 years as Chairman and now President he is standing down at the end of the season.

What a wonderful article about a man who has done so much for Bedford Blues and the game as a whole. Enjoy your short break sir.

As a former employee of GSI, one thing stands head and shoulders for me from this article. He is a man of great honesty and true values. He is seldom wrong in his judgement, as I learned (sometimes the hard way) but throughout my 8 years, he was a person I trusted. His commitment to Bedford Blues was faultless, and his tenure kept the club in a position of financial stability, while other clubs came and went. Thank you Geoff and enjoy the rest.

I heartily endorse the comments made with regards to Geoff
I have known him well & respected him through the years, both from our respective clubs point of view & also through the Championship & Senior Clubs Committees.
Geoff has in my view looked after the interests of Bedford Rugby in a magnificent way.
