A one sided match at Chinnor today. Taunton started and finished well, it was the other 77 minutes that were the problem for them. On today's evidence I can't see them staying up.

Attached is the detailed report for anyone interested

Taunton would stay up, if the Championship expands to 14.
Which is being discussed.

How would the 14 in the Championship work - three up from National League One, or three from Wasps, Worcester, London Irish ?

Why would that be the case?
Surely another team from National 2 should go up? That’s what happened during Covid when we were third bottom in Nat 1, with a chance of overhauling Moseley and the season was abandoned with 5 games still to play. They brought Tonbridge up and relegated us.

Joe Browning taking another sabatical? Not sure Exeter's SA coach will thank you for featuring him in this report Big smile

Promotion/relegation rules shouldn't be decided on the hoof.

Interested to get any information on this Camquin?.....my understanding is no expansion until 25/26.

Players from the Premiership and Championship who are in the process of getting coaching certificates do train with National league sides, 4 or 5 years ago Harry Wells from Leicester Tigers did some coaching at Leicester Lions and former Lions player Aneki Sio, now with Nottingham was also listed as coaching the forwards when they were in Nat 2 North.

From our chairman, Tim Hague.
I do not believe it is a secret that the league size has been discussed - with options of 12 and 14 on the table.

The key word is discussed, nothing is certain.
Cambridge would prefer 14, as we make more money from home games than the extra away trips would cost. And the gaps between home games this season have strained our cash-flow.

Assuming the Prem stays at 10, it also means the Prem Cup then has 24 teams, so four pools of six.

A decision is expected by Easter.

I think NBTC was suggesting 80 points conceded isn't good for a defence coach's CV !

I assume this is Easter 24 for implementation 25-26?

Am I the only one who believes every team should know the promotion/relegation criteria at the start of the season?

Obviously, a team going bust would be the exception to this.

Fatbear (or anyone else in the know!)

If Glister is the same one who was on loan at Leicester Lions earlier in the season, how does that work and is he now at Chinnor for the last six matches?

Or can he go back to LL (still to play Chinnor!) or Saints?

Thanks for any guidance!

Raider, I agree we should, but the RFU does not always work like that.

In particular, when the 16-team National One became the 12-team Championship, the National One clubs did not find out until halfway through the season.

From a financial standpoint, 16 team Championship is brilliant - but no Cup

There is also a match report on the https://www.mowdenpark.com/news/mowden-park-1428-rams-2835341.html" rel="nofollow - Darlington Mowden Park website .

I thought Rams were worthy winners with very strong defence and red zone scoring which was effective and efficient. They have a potent driving maul and any penalty kicks to the corner are likely to be converted into tries from the ensuing lineout, so I can see why they are, with Chinnor, joint top of the table.

Mr 'Awesome Awesome' nearly went a bit too early on one of those conversions Tongue. DMP win my gold medal for speed of publicity this season although I wonder whether the camera should be placed on the other side of the ground so you can see the crowd in shot. Looks a great stadium...just empty from the current angle.

never in doubt, I've spent 57 years watching conversions, I rarely get it wrong ... I don't think he struck that one quite as sweetly as the previous two, hence it deviated a little (and then kept on moving) ... but you live by the sword, you die by the sword ...
