https://www.rfulondon.com/24fix/R1SC.pdf I think every club does. Theres no easy games in this league and its going to be even tougher with Wimbledon back and Jersey coming up with some of their original club's ex-pros returning.

Haven't LW got Steven Shingler now?
Going to be hard keeping them off the scoreboard with him there.

No disrespect to Bracknell, who we play on the opening day, but relegated Wimbledon versus runners-up Camberley, and fourth-placed Tunbridge Wells v newly-promoted, ambitious Jersey look like the pick of the fixtures on the first weekend.

Whoever is doing your recruitment for the up and coming season is doing a grand job. Looks like it could be all over by Christmas 😉 A couple of new clubs for me next season, Jersey away weekend looks good.

It is, in so many ways. I remember when I went there with my club in 2008 and it was a great home crowd and good fun to be had after.

Given the way we finished last season- I think we averaged over 45 points per game post-Christmas and finished with the highest points scored and best points difference in the league - plus the new recruitment, I think there's a lot of optimism among the supporters (and probably the coaches and the board) that this should be our year. Not counting any chickens, though - will be interesting to see whether Wimbledon are older and wiser following their year in Nat2, and I'm sure Jersey will be there or thereabouts, too.

You’d like to think that with the quality of teams in the league this year, it will be a little more open. If you look at the results in Nat 2 and above, all of the top teams lose 3/4 games making it a very exciting 24/25 season.

Hello
I'm a new poster but avid watcher of these leagues. I think this is the toughest league at this level since the restructure. Jersey are a terrific team, well coached. The other top 4 sides from last year all will be in with a shout and I think CS Rugby and Wimbledon will trouble a fair few.

Welcome - I'm an avid watcher of Southwest Premier.
Such a competitive league, full of local derbies ,enthusiastic crowds creating terrific atmospheres. Of course it must be the same at South central & all the other equivalent tier 5's across the country. |

Welcome Lions - while enjoying a bit of club rugby down-time, I'm looking forward to it too - Jersey's first time in this league since 2008-10

Since Havant Tony has gone up the leagues, this place has been very quiet. Given everyone’s preseason games, how do we think the first round of league games are going to plan out?

I think Jersey will find out very quickly how tough this league can be. But given they seem to be bringing back all the Reds' old pros, it will be interesting. With Welsh and Bracknell, Welsh also bringing in the old pros from the old club too should have them challenging. Wimbledon, assuming they haven't had another exodus, should have a good challenge against Camberley (do they still not want to go up?). Alleynians are going to be the surprise package but its a tough opener away at the Civil Service. The other two, I'm not sure how to call but I reckon Horsham will probably make the most of their second chance at this level and I reckon Hammers hammer brighton.

I wouldn't expect all 35 of the pro players in Jersey at the point the Reds went pop in late September to be lining up for JRFC! But there are set to be 3 of that group in the squad, plus 2 who stopped playing professionally a couple of seasons ago and stayed on the Island having got non-rugby jobs, so these guys will make a significant contribution you'd expect. JRFC also looking to get some 2nd XV friendly fixtures this season which'll be the first time the club's fielded two amateur sides for several seasons...

I think thats the great ethos of rugby that they chose to stay and continue to be part of the community. I'm sure you'll have almost every 2nd XV in the league wanting to come and play yours (despite club treasurers). I hope its an enjoyable league for all.

Has Bracknell made some signings for this season? They don't seem to publicise much
London Welsh, Camberley and Jersey are bringing in some of the older talent on the way down to bolster for the season. London Welsh look like they going to be electric and with the signing of another strong prop and second row they would even be in contention to win the league at Level 4 |

I think it's fair to say people will be watching LW and Jersey over the first month or two to see how serious the challenge is!
I suppose my only question about yesterday would be - Who did London Welsh take, and who played for Oxford Harlequins? Was it effectively first team against first team, or first team against senior squad? Or a good mix of levels from both? On the face of it, it's an interesting result, and worth noting... but pre-season is always difficult to assess from results alone. Yesterday - Worthing Raiders 19 - 27 TW I wouldn't say either side was at full strength, and with rotation I'm not sure how much I'd read into the result! I guess we'll find out in September. |
