Isn’t it the case that they cannot be promoted at the end of next season as they have to prove two years of PRL salary compliance?

agree with ON - I don't think that (Sarries spending 2 years 'below stairs') will happen...

and I definitely don't expect 2 teams to be relegated from the Prem this May, regardless of whether Sarries finish 12th or not.

What is the point of more points deductions, they won't be carried over to next season.
When , when are we going to hear about the parachute payment, which they most certainly should not receive for being naughty boys.

Just to make sure that they do finish bottom -77 at the moment.

They're absolutely not going to give Ealing a chance at the top table at the cost of England's biggest club by having 2 relegations. And they can't change the rules halfway through the competition anyway. However next season, I suspect we may see the 2 year accounts rule magically disappear......

Did Ampthill suffer a withdrawal of funding following their non-promotion/demotion for misdemeanours a few years ago?

Well, at least this clarifies things. By which I mean it is now 100% clear that PRL is just making things up as they go along. I personally would have went for negative bajillion points.

Sorry, what’s this about depriving Ealing of promotion? Have you seen the current league table?

There comes a time when supporters can wonder whether to support a specific club. I know of people who watch Cambridge, Shelford and Bury St Edmunds depending on the fixtures. Loyalty to a club becomes diluted the less often they are available.

A club needs as many games as possible to meet fixed costs including players who are not on an appearance fee but a salary which would then need to be reduced for one less game.

As to the much vaunted player welfare, I cannot comment having played 32 games a season in the 2nd row in a team of 15 for my whole career. Surely the question is how to reduce the whiplash type injury of a legal tackle?

Rugby 🏉, as I knew it has gone. Fewer volunteers, paying players, 23 match day squad, 6+ coaching staff. No wonder 7s is drawing in the crowds, it's easy to explain but a Rhubarb to play.

The point of the extra points deduction is to ensure Saracens finish bottom of the league because otherwise as the regulations stand if they had not done so more than one Premiership team would have been relegated.

I agree entirely. The whole thing smacks of rank amateurism on the part of PRL. Ironic.

I’m a bit surprised at the lack of ire from the likes of ET and CP. Doesn’t the turn of events mean that next year’s promotion spot is likely to be even more of a forgone conclusion than normal?

The BBC did an article on their Sportsday programme a few days ago, reporting on Saracens and what they can expect next season. And to illustrate this they paid a visit to Ampthill. Take a look:
