In todays edition he states 

"If only the management of the professional club game across the world was rising too. It is not. The blows of losing theee teams in the Premiership in one season are being absorbed, chiefly because Wasps and Worcester Warriers now have credible plans to return. They much be incorporated into the Championship the day their plans are passed. Too many people are sitting back and dithering."

He then goes on to talk about the SA provinces in Europe. before stating 

"In previous eras professional club games would be lung-bursting commitments between the strongest teams. It was part of the appeal, and indeed, part of the morality."

Morality, what f$$$$ing morality do Wasps and Worcester have who he promotes at every opportunity. 

Ruined my bacon and eggs this morning, I'm annoyed ....

While objectionable, these comments from the Welsh Windbag are hardly out-of-character. Begging the question of why you would part with well-earned cash to pay for the Sunday Times, knowing that the paper continues to employ him as rugby correspondent, and then read his output while eating breakfast...

In today's Rugby Paper, Nick Cain writes briefly about the same topic, saying it's his understanding that the 11 Champ clubs (presumably excluding Chinnor who won't have got their feet under the table yet) remain unanimous that promotion/relegation (direct, not a P-O) must be restored from next season onwards, and that this is linked to fair funding, including no parachute payment to a relegated Prem team. Without these things being agreed, he says he can't see progress on other areas, such as the potential inclusion of 'phoenix clubs', with the 11 being opposed to any of their number being relegated to accommodate Wasps, Wuss or LI.

The Nick Cain article is far more relevant:
 By Nick Cain in today's rugby paper suggesting that the championship clubs have set out their position ahead of crunch talks with the RFU/PRL.
"THE crunch is coming as negotiations between the Championship and the RFU/Premiership over promotion-relegation intensify, with the Premiership ring-fence moratorium finishing after this season.
My understanding is that red lines are being drawn, with the 11 Championship clubs insisting unanimously that promotion-relegation is restored next season. This comes with the stipulation that it is automatic one-up one-down as before, rather than a play-off, and it is directly linked to the approval of fair funding for the Championship, with no parachute payment for relegated Premiership clubs.
If these fundamentals are not in place it is hard to see how further progress will be made. This precludes any discussion of Tier 2 being redrawn, or the admission of Phoenix clubs – including a refusal to allow any of the current Championship clubs to be relegated to accommodate new incarnations of Wasps, London Irish, or Worcester."

The Champ clubs must dig their heels in and not budge from these fundamentals. A levelling out of funding and the abolition of the ridiculous parachute payment is key, otherwise you get ring fencing by default. If you win the league you go up and if you are bottom you go down, nothing else should be accepted.

This windbag has spent years promoting a team that won countless Premiership titles by cheating so it's hardly surprising that he is now turning his attention to non-existent teams once owned by those who share his values.
