To help young players gain experience, Champ clubs will be permitted unlimited dual-registered players from Premiership sides. However, this will be capped at a maximum six in any matchday squad. The rule will be mirrored in the national leagues as well, but season-long loans will be excluded from the cap. This is the interesting bit for me, who is going to police this |

Although Nat 1 is the best league in England (I know you agree RM2!), and I usually say that if it aint broke dont fix it, it might be good to have a new dimension to the league for next year, it'll be all to play for right to the end.

Good to see a cap on dual reg. Would like it to be lower than 6 but a good start.
Also, agree with the second place playoff. Means 5/14 places in the league will be potential promotion/relegation which is plenty to keep things interesting. Some sensible decisions by those in charge for a change.

However the club finishing 2nd will still have to meet the Prem 2 criteria to be promoted. There was a suggestion that if failed it would be offered to the next team below who met the criteria. I am not sure if that is still the case.

Me? Certainly not! However, the changes could well add to the drama for the neutral as next season unfolds and reaches its latter stages.

Fair enough, but that goes completely against the whole point of being in a league system.
It's bad enough that the RFU don't (want to) understand that.

Having been in The Championship for 3 seasons with another coming up, I agree that National 1 is the best league. Having both professional and semi professional squads does not lead to a pleasant spectator experience. I know that Cambridge beat Plymouth this year and Caldy beat Ealing last season but "The Champ" is not the balanced league that National 1 is where any team can beat any other each week. Chinnor, Hartpury and Ampthill have done well, whilst Scottish have developed an unfortunate relationship with Harlequins such that there are so many Quins players in a match day squad as to make Scottish merely a club name and abandoning the clubs history. Is this a gripe from a disillusioned Cambridge supporter? Probably. Can I recommend promoting to Prem 2? Not without the backing of a sugar daddy and/or a Premiership partner (unlimited DR... ) This is just my opinion and not necessarily that of the Cambridge committee. Apologies FHLH but I have slightly amended your post to reflect what I suspect is the situation!

But Cambridge have used Northampton Saints players, so not too sure what you mean.
