Indeed, Bedford Blues are a welcome and impressive anomaly, an exception to the rule. I think we can all agree that they could to all intents and purposes be a fully professional side if they had the desire and backing to take that path again. Their squad, facilities and fan base rival and exceeds that of all the other semi-pro and even professional clubs in The Championship. To me, they are an example to the other semi-pro sides, who are on the whole miles behind on many fronts.

Not according to Bristol who state on their X feed they have not made contact with WW on this matter

Pro, semi-pro, amatuer with benefits (for the want of a better phrase) surely covers just about every club in the country. Success breeds money and vice versa but surely the point is that there should be promotion/relegation between levels and the ceiling is the highest level that can be reached and is, therefore, the highest level of competitive rugby.

I also have no doubt that with the funding of Newcastle by Red Bull, the new TNT deal, and the rumoured investment into a franchise league, the 10 will become 12 with the inclusion of Worcester and, in due course, Wasps.

I should add that I don't much care what the franchises do but what will really stick in my craw is if they are funded by the RFU in any way. Let them cut their own cloth.
