Being pushed back is not a penalty, provided you keep your bind.

If the reason you are being pushed back is the opposition are not pushing straight and are not good enough cheats to hide what they are doing, then you can be pushed back and win a penalty.

With respect nothing to do with the laws and interpretation of them today my friend. It was all to do with a repressive and negative attacking strategy from Roth. 

Roth had so much possession and territory for all of the first half and most of the second forty they should of waltzed home. Alas your half backs and back three were clueless on the front foot. 

They seemed more concerned with defensive shape (ball in hand) than exploiting space. 

The Roth second row number 4 (sorry didn’t get his name) for Roth was outstanding and the man of the match by miles. In itself that says everything. 

Collectively Fylde wanted this game more and they had the ability to not only to relentlessly and aggressively plug gaps in defence but on the rare occasions were able to quickly respond to find the gaps to  exploit and ultimately hurt Titans. 

What’s the old rugby league mantra, ‘Space not face’ 

It’s all set up for a great end of season run in for the top five which makes this a great example of competitive league rugby. 

Well done Fylde today, brilliant effort

I thought it was him but wasn’t sure but you could tell by his sheer presence all game. I thought he was brilliant.

Without doubt Hull look the most likely but for me this is looking like a real great run in for all clubs concerned with lots of twist and turns still to come. The other thing IMHO, this season contenders have been real high quality teams all with varying styles of play but very good levels and standards of application. 

I’d loved to say sit back and enjoy it but this is going to be a roller coaster ride for the top five.

I agree Porky, There have been spells this year when we could beat any team in this league. Lets hopw we have a lengthy one on Saturday and Rotherham will have a tough afternoon.

Interesting summary ST. Roth's obsession with driving mauls didn't help them. They fielded an enormous pack and the spurning of chances to kick penalties in order to go for corner lineouts didn't reckon for such determined (and skilled) defence. Challinor is still a fine player as are other forwards such as Poole and Bustin. But I think some of Fylde's forwards such as David Fairbrother, Harlan Corrie, Ben Gregory and Olli Parkinson competed for MoM. Sturgess and Smith outplayed the Roth halfbacks and Scott Rawlings was ... well ... Scotty.

One characteristic of the game was the attendance, 805, the highest in all three Nat Leagues. This was helped by the excellent #ShedOnTour visiting party from South Yorkshire. We can still do a good job on staging big games, giving a warm welcome to regulars and visitors alike.

The presence of the RFU CEO Bill Sweeney, Sir BillB, Brian Ashton, a number of former players such as Bevan Rodd and Sam Bedlow and former RL internationals, and of course, the National League's Chris Heal who featured the game in their Highlights Show, all added to the occasion.

The visits of Sedge and Hull to the Woodlands in the coming weeks may also be important in the final determination of promotion and top league positions.
