I don't know if anyone read TRP today, but I found a shockingly lazy, or even perhaps AI generated article about Ealing. Virtually every 'fact' was wrong.

I've written to the editor to call this out, and an excerpt of that letter gives the many, many mistakes:

1.      You say Ealing lost to Doncaster 20-12 in the penultimate round. That occurred last year, in the 2023/2024 season.

2.      Ealing Trailfinders beat Bedford Blues 59-12 also in the 2023/2024 season in the final round.

3.      Your tally of 18 wins from 20 matches is wrong, both this season when they had 19 wins from 22 matches, and last year when they had 16 wins in 20 matches.

4.      Your tally of 826 points scored and 376 against is also incorrect, in 2023/24 they scored 823 points, with 417 against, while this year they scored 1114 points, while giving up 419. A complete nonsense.

5.      You have used an old quote from Ben Ward, as Cam Terry and Elliot Chilvers are in their mid-twenties now.

6.      Tom Collins scored 12 tries, and not 10.

7.      Craig Hampson started about half the games at Scrum Half, but there is no rumour of him leaving the club.

8.      Ealing exceed 50 points ten times, and not 8 as given in the article.

9.      You say that stars like Luke Daniels and Rhys Charalambous are ‘stepping up’, yet Luke Daniels retired after the 2023/24 season, and Rhys Charalambous has never been a part of Ealing Trailfinders.

How absolutely disappointing, and potentially unethical.

Did you ever see TRP as producing quality journalism?
Whatever, I fully agree with you.

If the article was AI generated they need to replace it with a journalist. If the article was written by a journalist it needs to be replaced with AI!

From reading about AI I see there is a term for this now called “AI Hallucination” where AI systems just make up “facts”.

Have just read the article. What an atrocious piece of “journalism”. I’m tempted to write a similar email to the editor.

They pay peanuts.....  Says it all really. They were paying £50 for  photos  pre-covid, still offering  photographers £50.00 five years later.  I refuse to work with them.

I actually received a prompt reply from TRP. I don't really believe what was written, but apparently there will be a Reuben Bird-Tulloch interview next week.

I confess to using AI to get Nat 1 champions over last 10 years. About 50:50 accuracy

Wouldn't be the first time TRP has been guilty of poor journalism.

I remember back when they did the Nat 3 coverage, so many scorers' names spelt wrong or the wrong person named in reports.
