Tweet has confirmed Ealing and Doncaster grounds not suitable for promotion. The closed shop remains. 12 clubs next year. Only one promotion from National One. Season is effectively over. ------------- The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused. |

This is my first post and it is a shame that it is on this subject. It is now time for all clubs below the Prem to take their business and league structures elsewhere. There is no future with the RFU and Prem. ------------- ChrisB |

Welcome to the Rolling Maul Chris. You are so right. We just need to find a way to make it happen. As I have journeyed to grounds in National 1 and National I have yet to find anyone who has anything good to say about the RFU's custody of the game below the Premiership. The conversation is normally about the day's rugby but something will trigger a comment or a guffaw from a host and the subject of the RFU will be briefly discussed. No one wants to talk for long because they are just fed up to the back teeth with it all. We are now very much past the tipping point. Plaques and platitudes just don't cut it with anyone anymore.... ------------- ''The future isn't what it used to be'' |

Whilst I entirely agree with the sentiments expressed in this ‘petition’, I can see no value in supporting it as it stands. Surely a petition must ask for something specific and achievable - this does not. It comes across as little more than a well meaning whinge and will be undoubtedly dismissed as such, irrespective of how many votes it gains. What, specifically, is wanted of the RFU and/or PRU? ------------- Speak softly, but carry a big stick. |

Granted the petition may not spell out a specific point or statement but it would be difficult to read a greater criticism of a Sports administrative body . In all of the five paragraphs, there is serious dissatisfaction stated about the RFU stance on many matters. For me this is grass roots rugby expressing serious doubts about the RFU's ability to manage the game below Premiership and England Mens team level. On that level alone, I am more than happy to sign the petition........... ------------- Come on Jersey........ |

A petition from individuals will have very little impact. The "rebellion" needs come from the Clubs and Constituent Bodies otherwise you are just screaming in to the void. Don't disagree with the message, just its delivery. ------------- Crouch, Bind, Tweet! |

This petition now has 750+ signatures, it may only show the strength of feeling about the actions of the RFU and may not achieve anything else but I for one was happy to sign to register my disapproval. While I recognise some of the feedback questioning what the petition is seeking to achieve, beyond a non-specific show of anger/dissatisfaction, I have signed it on a 'rather be part of the solution than the problem...' basis. I sense that some of the powerful voices that have spoken out about this achieves greater impact - see some national media coverage I've posted on the other 'No Promotion' thread...
