Bedford 5-0 Richmond. Bedford in front of a big crowd against an out of salts Richmond side
Ampthill 4-1 Doncaster. These two sides have always enjoyed close games in Bedfordshire with Doncaster usually just edging things. Time to change that.
Jersey 5-0 Hartpury. Jersey to keep up their push against Ealing.
Nottingham 1-5 Ealing. Ealing to win comfortably but Nottingham to score 4 tries in the Friday night skies.
Coventry 5-0 Caldy. Coventry picking up form again in the last few weeks and I believe Caldy's purple patch is now over.
L Scottish 0-5 Pirates. Like Coventry, Pirates' form of late is showing why they should be a top 4 side. The Exiles might have their Quins battalion but I don't think it will make a difference.

Ampthill 4 - 1 Doncaster - home advantage
Jersey 5 - 0 Hartpury - Banker
Nottingham 0 - 5 Ealing - tough little away trip . . Ealing motivated
Coventry 5 - 0 Caldy - Plastic too fast
McQuins 0 - 4 Cornish Pirates - depends which Pirates team shows up

bedford 5 0 richmond - Richmond coasting with Scottish well below on the table.
ampthill 1 4 doncaster - Donny to bounce back away from home.
jersey    5 0 hartpury - Jersey to defend home ground with an extra week of rest.
nottingham 0 5 ealing - Lady Bay has tended to be a banana skin ground for Ealing, but they have been in excellent form the last couple of weeks, and the team is largely unchanged.
coventry    5 0 caldy - Caldy not as strong on the road.
scottish      0 5 pirates - Scottish were not as good as the 66-0 score showed last week.

Bedford 5 - 0 Richmond ... Bedford are the form home side, so if the weather stays reasonable I am struggling to see anything other than a regulation Bedford win. Should it get wet and nasty, then Richmond's pack will be prowling.
Ampthill 1 - 4 Doncaster ... A tight game this I think. Both teams will go toe-to-toe, but Donny to sneak it for me.
Jersey 5 - 0 Hartpury ... Absolutely no pushover for the Reds. The Glos 2nds have been playing extremely well of late and they will come to Jersey full of confidence. However, Jersey have been in pretty decent form themselves and with a strong squad available i expect them to pull away from the bench....Could be a cracking game though.
Nottingham 0 - 5 Ealing ... Should (and I mean should) Ealing have an off day, Nottingham have all of the ammo available to them to win this one. Apart from the first few weeks of the season, it just hasn't happened for them though. However, if Ealing take a grip, then it could be another huge away win on the cards.
Coventry 5 - 0 Caldy ... Oh Caldy, such a breath of fresh air to the division, but on the Coventry plastic, I think that the game will be just a little too quick for you. Hopefully, a tighter game than your trip to the Island!!
London Scottish 0 - 5 Cornish Pirates ... Pirates have not always travelled well, but I really fancy them for this game (as do most I should imagine).

It wasn’t too bad, there were a couple of fast Blues maul tries.

Blues are the first team to cross the 1,000 points watching them… partly because the defence is like a lower middle table club.

HT at the Stade Reds lead 24-22, 4 tries to 3, Pury well in it, surprisingly a visiting prop kicked the ball out on HW to end the half. It's been pretty fast + loose this half, would suit Hartpury if that continued.

A good performance by the Reds yesterday, but it was by no means perfect against a Hartpury side that would not go away.
Having raced into a 16 point lead, scoring 3 tries in the process (the first two were sublime), Jersey seemed to fall asleep for 5 minutes and that let Hartpury score 2 tries of their own to bring it back to a 2 point game. Jersey woke up and got the BP try on the half hour and we thought that this would be the bit where Jersey tear loose, but once again Hartpury we’re having none of it and we turned round 24-22. To be fair Jersey bossed the 2nd half and probably left a few points out there scoring only 2 tries for all of their possession and territorial advantage. One of which was bizarre. A good Jersey break was stopped 5 meters from the visitors line. The Jersey player tried to pass out of the tackle only to find a retreating Hartpury defender who somehow palmed/chested the ball back across the line only for a Jersey player to pounce on it.
Anyway, a decent game played on a stunning spring afternoon. We’ll take that!!

A pretty good outcome for The Pirates at the RAG. With Exeter recalling their dual reg guys to prepare for the Premiership Cup final and a number of injuries we were down to the bare bones and had a prop on the bench covering the back row. LS had all their Quins guys, so they were pretty strong. Glad to get out of it with the 5 points to be honest - it was very close!

Appreciate it was close but Scottish have only lost by the odd point to Donny and Jersey away and Hartpury home this season. Had a fair sprinkling of Quins but by no means the full contingent. Maybe just hitting their stride at the business end of the season? Scored 5 tries to Pirates 4 so agree was a close well contested game!

Posted By: islander
Date Posted: 19 Mar 2023 at 15:16
'hitting their stride' is not the first phrase that springs to mind when talking about a team that has lost 12 straight, but I see what you're saying MM - LS far more competitive since early Dec, and really gave an admittedly off-colour Reds a real fright in January.

LS have a huge game at Caldy this Sat: a win could really set up a battle with 'the Landlords' during April (the 2 meet on 22/4); lose, & they might have too much to do...

I think that LS will sneak above Richmond, due to all
Their imports and Richmond having the most horrendous injury list, they are on their bare bones but stick to their principles as a proper rugby club and promote from within .

I think you may be right mate but they are both great Rugby Clubs who are doing what they feel they must to survive financially and the Championship will be poorer without whichever goes down this season.

Not so sure. A couple of passes and a long run in past a flat-footed defence.
Contrast that with the ball movement in the other three.
