Hmm, while that is true, hypothetically of course, the last time a team that didn't finish top of the league was promoted into the Premiership it ended rather badly, and I'd hate for that to happen again, to anyone.

I think there is a requirement that, first and foremost, the team to be considered for promotion must have won the Championship that season.
Speak softly, but carry a big stick.

Nottingham 4 - 1 Jersey Friday night blues for the reds (perhaps)
Richmond 1-5 Pirates (pirates to bag the booty)
Doncaster 5 - 1 Bedford if we sort our nonsense out from last weekend but the blues will make us work hard
Hartpury 1-5 Ealing Hartpury in a rich (ish) vein of form could give Ealing a good run
Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!

Predictions:
Nottingham 4 v 1 Jersey - Nottingham always give a good account of themselves at home, even against the best sides. I think they can sneak this.
Richmond 4 v 1 Cornish Pirates - Just wonder if Richmond could throw a spanner in the works here. Pirates don’t have a great record at the RAG. The home team are in good form at the moment. Could be a real test for CP this one.
Doncaster 4 v 1 Bedford - Blues have been shocking in the last few weeks against teams you would expect them to beat which means lo and behold they’ll turn up this week won’t they?, typical. Home win but a lot tighter than current form would suggest.
Hartpury 4 v 1 Ealing - I can see Ealing being given a real scrap here, if Hartpury turn up I think we could see the title race blown wide open. This fixture does have a “banana-skin” feel to it if ever there was one.

Think there could be a few surprises this weekend. Just shows how unpredictable the league is this year.

Nottingham 1 - 5 Jersey - When it is part time vs. full time, I'm almost always going to come down on the side of the fulltimers, even if they are playing away.
Richmond 1 - 4 Cornish Pirates - Richmond capable of turning over anyone at the RAG, with the evergreen Mark Bright at the helm I expect them to keep this close, but the logic above still holds.
Doncaster 5 - 0 Bedford - See above, and Bedford has been in very poor form of late.
Hartpury 1 - 5 Ealing - Agree that this game has 'banana skin' written all over it. I feel much better with Hartpury NOT having Nathan Hughes, but given that this is a Six Nations weekend, there could be less DRs available than usual, so I think that Ealing will triumph in the end.

As Ampthill have a week off I can make all predictions with my head, not my heart, so here goes.

Nottingham 1-4 Jersey. Not a clue really as this is a potential banana skin for the away team.
Richmond 1-4 Cornish Pirates. See note above. The same applies.
Doncaster 5-0 Bedford. Doncaster will be looking to put on a better display than last Saturday for their fans and Bedford are falling apart.
Hartpury 1-5 Ealing. Provided the weather is dry this could be a try fest, but Ealing should have the ability to win by more than 7 points.

Basically, this week’s fixtures are all banana skins and I fear for my current third position in the prediction table.
Always trying to stay bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

Nottingham 1-4 Jersey  - Never any easy place to visit . . . but Jersey gaining momentum
Richmond 4-1 Pirates  - Just a feeling!!!
Doncaster 5- 0 Bedford - Bedford like a box of chocolates
Hartpury 1-5 Ealing  - very tempted to award win to Pury but !!!

Also hearing all sorts of great rumours about next years Championship structure, you would have thought they would have sorted it my now!!! Come on RFU you have one job!!! One rumour is Academy sides either entering or being involved in a Cup Competition!!!! But LS definitely staying.
Run with it

Nottingham 0-5 Jersey … An unexciting match

Richmond 1-4 Pirates … Could be a slogathon if weather is poor

Doncaster 5-0 Bedford … Donny keep control for long periods and frustrate Bedford into errors

Hartpury 1-5 Ealing … Hartpury to keep going for 80 mins and get TBP

Ealing team away to Hartpury: Sad to Alun Walker changed out due to injury, and still prefer Will Davis at prop, but otherwise a fine Ealing side, who should win. Happy to see Burns on the bench, was worried after he limped off against Coventry.

1. Dylan Smith

2. Shaun Malton

3. Lewis Thiede

4. Bobby De Wee

5. Simon Linsell

6. Max Northcote-Green

7. Simon Uzokwe

8. Rayn Smid

9. Craig Hampson

10. Craig Willis

11. Angus Kernohan

12. Pat Howard

13. Max Bodilly

14. Cian Kelleher

15. David Johnston

Replacements

16. Jan-Henning Campher

17. Will Davis

18. George Davis

19. James Cannon

20. Harry Casson

21. Jordan Burns

22. Steven Shingler

23. Len Massyn

Nottingham 0-5 Jersey  - jersey did not play well against us 1st half
Richmond 4-1 Pirates  - Rag is not a happy hunting ground for Pirates
Doncaster 5- 0 Bedford - Bedford really out of luck and results
Hartpury 1-5 Ealing  - on another weekend I might have gone for Pury

in the prediction league Richmond v Pirates seems to be the most difficult to predict so an extra 5 points for those who get exactly right

It was apparently a last minute thing and Ealing have saved the day. From the Blues website.

Following further injuries and COVID-19 cases this week, Blues would like to thank Ealing Trailfinders for allowing Reuben Bird-Tulloch to re-join the club on a short-term loan basis, acting swiftly after such short notice.
